I'm sitting here in tears and I'm feeling really down. As some of you know that I am having to move house, I went to the city council yesterday with the hope that they can find us some where to live. They have said because we live in the county they cant help us! So that means we have to go to the county and that means a flat. This is so unfair as it means I cant take my rabbits and guinea pigs with me. They have said I might be able to take my dogs but if there is no garden then I will have to get them rehomed as well. Feel so tearful as I have already had to give the rescue up. But to have to find homes for my other guinea pigs and rabbits is breaking my heart.
I dont really want to say that I have to find homes for my babies but that is what I am having to do. Please if there is some one out there that can help. I just dont know how I am going to get through this as all I seem to do is cry.
This is all because OH's Mum died and her husband wants to sell her house, so we will be left nothing and the only thing that keeps me going is my pets.

Mary

Oh what horrible news. I know how hard it was for you to decide to find the piggies new homes. I'm so sorry that i cannot help you at this time. I'm sure you will find the best homes for your animals.

Please don't give up i'm sure there will be a bright light somewhere.

Remember we're all here for you, no matter what!!!

It doesn't matter if you've had to rehome, we'll understand, your situation is hard on you :'(

Keep in touch and ask questions i'm sure someone can help out with all the furbabies.

Do you not have an option in the UK when there's these probs? In OZ we can go to
agencies who'll help you.

Take care :-*

I was thinking along the lines of Glynis, have you considered renting privately? Housing association?

Try not to panic and re-home if you don't need to Mary. Have you got any frinds or family that could foster for you, if you do need to move quickly?

Thinking of you,
Barbara

The Housing Association's in Leicester dont deal with homelessness they just tell you to go to the council! My sister would take them on but it could only be for a short time and she has lots of pets her self. We cant aford to go private as house's round here are £500 plus a month and the council flats are £200 a month.
Feel like going to sleep and wakeing up next year. I love my pigs so much, this is all I need right now!

PLEASE don't give up.....

Here in OZ we have the Salvation Army they help in times of need we also have associations for housing etc...
I'm sure there must be someone, as i don't know what happens there i'm asking all our friends to help with practical advice.
Remember tho you have to be postive and make a go of it as well, you know what i mean.
We're all thinking of you and yes it's obvious you love your furbabies but you may have to make some choices.
Take care and good luck :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thank you, just trying to hold it all together. Trouble is going work in abit and my nose is bright red and eyes look bad! Got to stop crying!

Come on you've got to do it for yourself :) :)
Please try to get some help as well, surely you've got the facilities there somewhere that can help you, there must be someone that can advise or be a shoulder. As you know a shoulder is pretty good at times.
Take a deep breath and relax, smile and love yourself :)

This is all because OH's Mum died and her husband wants to sell her house, so we will be left nothing and the only thing that keeps me going is my pets.

Can he do this to you? Did his mum not have a will or anything.... Is buying the house not an option?

I'm sorry you're in this pickle, chin up!

So sorry to hear this Mary.

I'm going to have a think of some ideas to help you

His Mum didnt leave a will, have looked into buying but only could borrow 25 grand!

I'm so sorry to hear about your problems Mary.

Have you tried Shelter (The housing and homelessness charity). They have a free housing advice line - 0808 800 4444 and online advice on www.shelter.org.uk

Thanks for all your kind words. What I should have done is rehomed them when Kate took my rescue pigs, but I didnt think that we would have to go into a flat. How on earth can the council rehome 2 adults and 3 kids into a flat! They are not even going to give 2 stuffs about my pets

Sorry to hear about your situation Mary. From my dealings with Birmingham City Council over the years, i know how unreasonable they can be. I therefore assume it follows with all Councils. But I also know that properties are limited, especially houses - even more so the more bedrooms they have. Do you know when you have to be out by? Have you contacted anyone in relation to your rights - just because the Council tell you something doesn't necessarily mean it is correct! Shelter (as already suggested) and Citizens Advice are good ones. Check your legal position also. Just because he wants you out, doesn't mean he can 'just like that'.

are you on benefits becasue if you get some they they might well pay some or all of the rent of a private house, if not then maybe you should be getting some if you are on a low wage

Sorry to hear about your problems Mary, have you tried getting advice from the citizens advice bureau, if nothing else they might be able to help you make sure you're claiming all the benefits and allowances you are entitled too and maybe able to point you in the direction of housing places. I'm sure if you hang on in there you'll be able to find a house you can afford. What about the schemes where you buy some of it and rent the rest?

Mary, I'm so very sorry to hear all this.

Don't you work at a vet's? Maybe there are people there (vet, other staff) who could possibly have your guineas to stay for a while and you would still be able to see them whenever you wanted.

Always here if you want to talk. x

thats really afwell , :'( please do as others have said & get advice, I'm not sure he can get you out just like that & even if he does the council would have to offer you accomodation if you didnt make yourself homless, i would really find out all you can , tho i know its the last thing you want to be doing when you feel like you do :'( all councils are stretched for housing , but if you have children& didnt make yourself homless you would have to be a priority.
ive been there too & now what its like , had to rehome a lot of my animals years ago & it broke my heart , so big hugs

Big hugs Mary - this is such an awful situation.

I agree with comments already made - please speak to the Citizens Advice Bureau to make sure that you know all of your rights. There may be other options that you don't know about at the moment. If the worst comes to the worst then I am sure wonderful homes can be found but please make sure that is the last resort - it is obvious how much you love your pets.

Thinking of you at this difficult time

Hi,
I have about sorted my rabbits out for rehoming but still need to rehome my guinea pigs. My rabbits will be going to a rabbit rescue unless I find a forever home for them before hand.

My Guinea pigs will beable to go to a rescue but I really want a forever home for them.

Midnight and Patch are brothers and are about 2 years old

Tinkerbell (3 years) Biscuit (3 years) and Bessie (1 year) Bisciut is the husband of Tinkerbell and father to bessie, he has been castrated. They all live together and must stay together. If any one can help then please let me know. I only have about a month to sort them out.

I have a job interview coming up. If i get the job i plan to get more pigs. I should know in about a week or two. If you still have them i could prob pursuade OH to let me have them if you wish. I'd need a hand with a piggy train though if anyone could help out.

Let me know how you get on! At least I know I can get them all into a rescue but would like a forever home for them.

Will do. :)

At least you have a rescue place promised mary, that is something. Don't rush into re-homing them yourself, obviously if a great home comes along then wonderful...but thankfully you have a few weeks yet.

Is there no way they would allow you to keep a couple indoors? or would you just not have the room?

Hi Barbara,
There just wouldnt be enough room, we are going to have to get rid of alot of house hold stuff. Would love to beable to but I even might have to rehome my dogs. At least I have places at a rescue and I can do this at the last minute, so if there is enough room then I will. I might have to get the rabbits into a rescue when there is space so I might not have a choice with them. Going to have Marmalade (rabbit) spayed next week so at least this helps the rescue out.

Mary

I'm so sorry to hear your news Mary :'( Keep your chin up and i'm wishing some good luck your way x

/BIG hugs
