I'm not sure what to think or do. My boys are coming up to be 7 now, and this past week Ozzy isnt interested in veggies anymore and is eating very slowly when he does eat. His weight is down 120g, and its like he wants to eat how he did but he doesn't. He got the clean bill of health from ellie whitehead a few weeks ago, but I feel like 120g is a huge loss

I hope you can get to the bottom of it.mystery weight loss is the worse.
Let us know ow how you get on.
Maybe step in with top up feeds.

I’m sorry to hear that.

Yes 120g is quite a lot. Have you stepped in with any support feeding? If you haven’t, then I would do so.

Let us know how you get on at the vet

Did they get a good look at his back teeth on his last appointment? Good luck at the vet and hope they find something easily manageable!

Thank you everyone, stepped in trying to feed him what I can, hes had a bit of banana but turned his nose up way before he normally would. Trying to top him up where I can, hes definitely having a good go in the hay but is very slow in actually eating anything, hes definitely got the determination to keep trying, taking that as a positive

Here is our new guide to help you improvise in order to make up for a decreased hay intake: How to Improvise Feeding Support in an Emergency

Please be aware that veg may be the most visible of food groups that gets dropped but that hay is the most significant, even if your boy is still partially eating it.

Taken him in, we thought our scales were dodgy, no he really is just down around 200g. Its his back teeth and she could feel the burrs through his face even, we have left them both there so ozzy can have a dental. She has said that theres quite a risk with him being so old but there's no choice as he wont be able to eat without it, I'm terrified to put it lightly. Really hope my boy comes back better

BIG HUGS

And fingers very firmly crossed.

If I can just ask (sorry for spamming the thread) since a cup of recovery food makes quite a bit of paste, am I ok to put that in the fridge and reuse? Seems a waste to throw it away

It depends on the make of food, it should say on the packet. I usually make enough up for the day and make fresh each morning.

I usually make it fresh in the morning too. But sometimes if I need to make a bit extra in the evening then I cover it up and use it for the breakfast top up.

Thank you, honestly hoping its just for today and maybe tomorrow as well x
