Nutmegs eye seems sunken in

Hey, one of my guinea pig's eyes looks sunken in and being pushed in by the eyelids. I'm not sure what to do but I've ordered some antibacterial eye ointment and saline for her. I thought it was hay poke at first but it didn't look like it. Any tips or advice? I'm extremely worried for her.

A sunken eye is a sign of pain and should always be checked by a vet; she same as an eye that is bulging.

I live in the Unitied States of America. I'll be sure to schedule an appointment with the vet. Is there anything I could do to prevent it from getting worse?

Not really. But please don’t apply what you bought. Eyes can be treated by general vets so you don’t necessarily have to go to your usual one.

Please get her seen by the vet as soon as you can. In the UK eye issues are seen same day as they can deteriorate very quickly.

I agree with everyone else definitely see a vet beachside things could get worse quite quickly

I’d still say wait for the appointment before applying anything, saline included.

Saline is always the first recommendation by my vets for eye issues. When I call to set up appointments I'm instructed to use it while waiting for the appointment.

The vet gave us some MicrocynAH ophthalmic gel for her eye. Fingers crossed!
