Off To Vets With Maddie

Not too bad but still not great, the Septrin is having some effect as she is not peeing blood anymore though it is still visible on the test stick. She is in a pain when peeing and pooing still though so will be upping her Tramadol. She is bright when not going to the loo though. Loves her daily fluids too, asks for them as soon as I walk in the room and the other little PEW Emma likes to "help" too.

Hi glad to hear Maddie holding her own and general bright and enjoying her fluids. So sweet Emma giving a helping paw!! Oreo piggy on the Frusol again and loving it. Not so keen on the Fortekor though. Hugs for Maddie piggy x

Thank you.

Sadly she is not too bright tonight. In a lot of pain when pooing, given gripe water and she's on the massage pad at the mo. There are holes in her poos which indicate wind.

Poor Maddie. Hope the wind goes soon and hope the pain will ease off and that she will feeling brighter later. Poor love x

Thank you.

She is booked in for the whole day at the vets tomorrow to have her abdomen xrayed (consciously) and we will then discuss what to do going forward. I may need to ask about her having Emeprid and possibly Zantac too and a tweak to her pain relief.

Well she's a little fiesty mare, she has decided she won't take her fluids anymore, all of a sudden. Had her on the kitchen side tonight and after numerous attempts to get her to take it she walked forward and headbutted the cup out of the way, water went all over the kitchen side, floor, me and her and then she goes paddling in it, licking some of it up as she went.

Oh dear :P She sounds as feisty as Haven, she hates me doing meds and takes great pleasure at either dribbling the meds out her mouth all down my top or pushing my hand away with her face or paws (if they are not secured well enough). She has also been known to head butt things and wee on them to show her disgust with what i am doing.:inn:

Certainly sounds like she was showing you who is boss . How is she this evening? x

She's used to be really bad at taking her meds but these last few weeks she has become and angel and the last few days she has been climbing all over me to get to her fluids but not today, if she cold clamp her mouth shut she would.

She is ok tonight still squeaking but I don't think quite as bad, still not good though, the OH has her on the massage pad at the moment.

Bless her. Well give her a gentle cuddle for me. :) I think they get a bit fed up after a while being syringed meds/ fluids/food dont they? She sounds like a little fighter though x

Ok, she's home and she has a stone at the top of her urethra. It must have been hidden on the previous xray, and apparently a infection can do that. It is not in an easy place to operate so the plan is to continue with antibiotics for 2 weeks (Marbocyl this time) and see if it moves, if not then we will have to agree to an op even though the risks for a heart pig are huge. There is part of me that thinks the op should be done earlier but we can see the vet's logic. The xray also showed some gas.

Oh no poor Maddie, pleased you have answer although not a pleasant diagnosis. Hope the stone passes soon and she recovers quickly. Poor love. I have Maddie in my thoughts x

Here is one of the xrays

We have made a decision that we will reassess in a week and get her operated on earlier if needed. Just need to give the Marbocyl a chance to treat the surrounding infection.
