Oh dear Blodwen pig has a discharge...

Can someone remind me please, is it 2 hours after baytril I can give some probiotic? Blod is a little out of sorts today and she had her baytril dose on her way to the playpen at 3pm, I'm hoping I can give her some pro-C on her way back home after the cage clean so we dont have to catch her again later on!

1 to 2 hours after is fine. That's what I go with.
Keep your chin up little Blodwen.x
Thank you! Here's Blod having some pro-C, I was a bit worried after she didnt eat her broccolli last night but she's eaten some watermelon and coriander and lots of hay, and she's taken 3mls of pro-C :)

Good girl Blod Spod you keep it up. Velvet will tell you that Pro-C is really yummy:drool: but Cystease is really yukky!:vom: So she has one syringe of Cystease then one syringe of Pro-C until the Cystease has run out (approx 3 syringes) then however much she will take of Pro-C.

Here's Blod looking very unimpressed after her final dose of baytril and another bum bath!

I couldn't see any discharge today but her bum fur was still a bit yellow and sticky, though this could have been from earlier in the week before the baytril started working, so I thought I'd wash her again to be all clean in the newly cleaned cage so we can tell whether she gets dirty again before her monday vet check...

Piggle Pants of the original yucky grease gland escaped her bath today as I want the vet to appreciate just how yucky it is this time, last time we bathed her just before we had her examined and the vet said it was ok, but seeing as Blod definitely had an infection I want the vet to see Piggle's bum gunk at its worst and take some samples!
Poor Piggle, little does she know that Monday will involve a nail trim with the vet nurse, then a bum examination from the vet, then afterwards a well needed bum bath... I must get some good reward snacks for her!

Poor Piggly Pants. What an ordeal Monday will bring. I trimmed Dennis's nails for me and as usual he just lay on his back on my lap with his feet in the air and let me do it he is such a good boy. Betsy was the same today which was most unusual. Normally Betsy is trying to nip me and is squirmy and hates having her manicure and pedicure done.

Piggle will be ok, she's very emotionally resilient because we got her as a very bold baby from a nice family and she came with her cagemate cousin Puggle- she trusts hoomans! Going to the vets and having a bath are the only mildly unpleasant things which have ever happened to her, unlike poor scaredy Blod pig... Piggle will just give me the evil pig eye look and spray pee at everyone and possibly bite the vet, then she'll forget all about it in a couple of hours!

Hope all goes well on Monday - poor piggies
Its a bit of a worry having 2 sticky yellow bums, but Blod has had her course of baytril and hopefully we can persuade the vet to take Piggle's rear end a bit more seriously now. They are both good weights and very lively and peeing and pooping fine. It's not a UTI, Blod's urine was clear of both blood and bacteria. Blod and Piggle were both very fond of sitting in a rather stinky woven grass hidey tube that I binned last week because I wondered if that might be where any pathogens were breeding and any cross-infection happened!
I'm not letting the herd share any more absorbent stinky grass furniture like that until this is sorted out, they have wooden hideys with no floor and fleecy things that get hot washed with dettol twice a week in the cage until I know there's no lurking bacteria... and they had cardboard boxes in the playpen that I recycled after 4 hours... the other possibility is that Theo is spreading something about, but he's really none too keen on mating and he's always very clean and healthy all over so I'm not sure!

Good news- clean bill of health for both Blod and Piggle :)
We saw a different vet today but she was very good, very thorough checks of both piggies bums and bits and bladders.
This vet thinks maybe we are fussing too much over Piggle's greasy behind, she said there was no sign of any infection or soreness or irritated skin and that its all fresh greasy secretions just from her grease gland, and Piggle is perfectly capable of cleaning it herself as her bum and lady bits and the fur around them are very clean- she said Piggle probably likes smelling like that if she doesnt clean the greasy patch!

Thanks I love a good hug and I love piggy kisses and I won't get them anymore now my licky piggy is at The Rainbow Bridge. Vicky the Receptionist at the vets came and gave me a lovely hug.
