Penelope’s top right incisor is longer than the left. It even pokes out and you can see it just by looking at her mouth. She has had previous molar issues but hasn’t had a problem for over a year. She also has had a history of breaking and losing an incisor but i didn’t see a break in the tooth when i checked. She still has her appetite and is chewing just fine which doesnt make me think it’s her molars as it’s not the same signs she’s shown.

I just don’t understand what could cause her one incisor to grow too long? She does bite the bars when she wants food (terrible habit) and that’s the only thing I could think of? She is starting to have issues picking up her veggies and oxbow biscuits so I’ve been cutting veggies in strips and soaking her biscuits in water. She’s been picking up hay fine and drinking water. Planning on calling her vet in the morning but they’re unfortunately about 4 hours away since I’ve had to move states.

Kind of a goofy photo, I took a screenshot from a video I took of her eating veggies. You can see the one long incisor.

Oh gosh yes, that’s definitely not normal and needs to be addressed especially if she can not pick food up properly. You may find it needs a trim to line up with the incisor next to it and to see what the underlying cause is. It also looks like a ‘fat tooth’ to me where one tooth is thicker than the other. This in itself is not an issue but the length of it is

Good luck at the vets, could you find one closer? x

Unfortunately, uneven front teeth can be a sign of troubles with the molars.
Is the second tooth still there? It might still be cracked at the gum line and caused issues with eating because it's not firm any more.
It's a shame your vet is so far away but the teeth need a vet check.
All the best!

i agree - definitely not normal and needs to be checked. It could be an issue with the incisor in its own right but incisor issues are also caused by issues with the molars (uneven chewing with the molars allows incisors to grow unevenly).

Make sure you are weighing her every morning so you can be sure she definitely is eating enough hay. Often If they can’t pick up veg properly then they can’t pick up hay properly either so while appearing to eat some hay can be deceptive and mean that they aren’t eating enough

I hope things go well 🦷It's great that you have picked up this issue and are looking into it ❤️

Hi everyone! Thank you for all of your guys responses ❤️

She gets her medication around 5am and while giving them to her, I noticed that tooth was very loose and was hoping it would soon come out. After fulling waking for the morning, I came back to check on her and the tooth did come out! I found it in her hay and she’s been picking things up perfectly fine now. I think that tooth being loose and hanging down lower than her other was causing the issue. Glad it is out of there! She’s lost incisors before so it should grow back in soon and hopefully it’s all sorted
