Oh Glynis, sorry to hear Onyx has had a setback. Hoping she feels better today and you feel less tired also, it can be so mentally and physically tiring syringe feeding and looking after an ill piggie. You just live on tenterhooks with them constanly worrying and it drains you.

Sending lots of healing vibes to Onyx and healing Wheeks from the girls

Really hope she feels better soon
x x

The hunching sounds like she might be in some pain/discomfort? What do you think from obviously being able to see her? Is she hunching when she urinates, or at other times?

Pain of any kind (not just dental) is often enough to stop piggies eating properly. It may also be worth getting a urine sample to be tested?

Candy Floss....... too late, me is a zombie already @):(|)

Poor Onyx, just to add Putt(RIP) used to hunch and squeak when pooing.. as opposed to weeing.
A ultrasound revealed an inflamed bladder wall that was contributing to the problem. She also had ovarian cysts. It may be worth mentioning this to your vet.. She was placed on a low dose of metacam daily and also recieved regular cartrophen injections to help the inflamation.

Hope Onyx is better today x x x

23/3/12 Update

Thanks for the info sport_billy x)xoxo

THat is about the only thing she didn't have, an ultrasound...

She had bloods, urine (which was also spun down, no crystals present), faecal test too and everything was negative or good ......

I have just given her some grass and i'll give her a CC feed in 1/2hr she's lost weight whilst at the vets (i knew this would happen!)

They also want me to give them both only green veggies and start Onyx on it now......... i am VERY hesitant to give her more than a tiny bit in case she gets hunched up again. I'm at a loss i'm tired and very emotional for my baby :0:0:0

oh Glynis i'm so sorry to hear your baby is not well. I hope things go well at the vets and they get her well soon. x

Oh Glynis, am so so sad at reading this thread, hope Onyx makes a speedy recovery - you take care of yourself too. We need you on herex>>

With our wheeks

I'm sorry Onyx is so unwell. Wishing her a speedy recovery, sounds like you're doing the very best you can for her. x

How's she doing Glynis?

Gino has a UTI too :( He was on Baytril but I didnt see any improvement after a few days, so I took him back to see Uncle Simon and hes on Septrin and Metacam now.....hes already wheeking less when he pees.

Might be worth trying Septrin if shes no better?

Kisses for Onyx xoxo

Just got caught up on this thread. Sorry to hear Onyx is still unwell. Sounds like you're doing all you can, I really hope that she pulls through and responds to treatment. Fingers crossed xx.

Glynis, the boys and I are sending healing wheeks for Onyx - hope she feels better soon! Batman especially says that if her UTI bothers her anything like his bit foot and upset tummy bothered him, then he really hopes she is well again shortly as that is no fun whatsoever!
