I like to experiment with my guinea pigs diets and see what fruits and vegetables (of the ones their tiny guinea pig stomachs can have) they like and don't like. I know Oranges are discouraged because the acidity can cause mouth sores but every few weeks I like to give Reptar and now Maximus a wedge of unpeeled orange if it's a sweet orange I know they would enjoy. Reptar devours his slice like nobody's business, Max is my little shy piggy who takes a while to warm up to each veggie or fruit I introduce to him so I'm not sure if he eats his slice or if Reptar takes it. I wouldn't usually give them orange but I know it has Vitamin C and they need all the Vitamin C they can get.

My question is, do you feed your piggies orange? If so, how often?

I personally do not feed fruit as it is not healthy for piggies but I know other people like to.

I make sure to only feed fruit 2 or 3 times a week since it's supposed to be a "treat" and I love their happiness when they have a little sweet treat.

I have never personally fed mine citrus although I know people who do as a treat.

I do however feed mine a little slice of apple as a treat. They also have melon during the summer as it is juicy and refreshing.

Orange can be offered once, or twice a week - Although, acidic/citrus foods, and foods high in sugar should be limited!
