I took Squeaks to the vet today for a check up. While I was there I thought I'd ask them for a list of what I spent December-March on trying to make poor Zebedee better. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap as I'd been to the vet with Zeb probably at least once a fortnight throughout that period, but was nonetheless pretty surprised to see that it had cost us £950
It wasn't as though there was anything really expensive in there - mostly consultation fees (£16) and medications, the 2 x-rays were each <£50 (he didn't need sedating etc), and the single most expensive thing was the emergency consult the day he died (£57) - but over the course of 3 months it all added up

cash, now I know where all those moths in my house have come from - they've left my empty wallet in search of food!

That would have been a huge sum to pay in one go, but if it would have meant Voltti to get better I would have been glad to pay it. I'm also lucky to have a decent-paying job, so I have been able to put aside money each month for my emergency fund, which I use to cover vet costs too.
