Meet Leo (named after the white-lighter in Charmed)...

After much deliberation we decided to abandon trying to find a companion for Oscar at this point as he's at the stroppy teenage stage (5 months) and decided that the best option was to get Pepe, who desperately wanted to be friends with Dylan, a minipig as a companion. (Oscar has now taken Pepe's place next to Dylan)

Pepe has been brilliant, and after a few brief attempts at "humping him" is now acting like a protective father, guarding the oustide of their stick house whilst Leo sits inside and generally staying as close to him as possible.

When we took Pepe out of the cage for a few minutes he started "wheeking" for him, they already seemed to have established a really strong bond,

And when we have them out together on our laps they always manage to work their way back to each other and snuggle up.

He's 5 weeks old, has a monster appetite for such a small piggie and has already had a number of popcorn fits as he dashes around in the cage... he's very difficult to photograph when he's dashing around!

His colourings are very unusual (at least to us anyway).

We got him from GBH Rescue in Beckenham where he and his brothers were born. We took Pepe along to help choose him and although he seemed to get on with one of his other brothers too (a himalayan white) he seemed to take more interest in Leo, so here he is...

If we ever have any girl piggies they are going to be named after Sci-Fi characters, the Charmed ones, Buffy characters, Firefly's Kaylee and Inara etc.

We've just put them out in the run for the first time (we've kept them in the cage for the first few days) and they are loving it, some serious popcorn action is happening
as I type this :D

Fantastic news guys :) Marty and Julie I am so pleased you decided to get a baby for Pepe :). What a stunningly handsome couple they make and you are absolutely right he has very unusual markings. Remember to lock your doors tonight, I know where you live, I feel a pignapping coming on ;D ;D ;D.

I hope the bond the boys have made stays firm and you have no piggy tantrums in times to come, as I have already told Julie we have made several adult/baby boar pairings without any major problems, yes they have their moments from time to time, but then we all do!

Look forward to seeing more photos of the duo.

Sandra, it was partly your thoughts that made us decide to change our tactics :) We took on a lot of advice from certain people involved both in rescue and from this forum (sometimes both!) and thought this was the best chance we all had - and fingers crossed, they look great! Oscar is so happy rumbling next to Dylan and has been popcorning madly since his move, so has Dylan, and this is the happiest we've seen Pepe since we lost Scampy and Blaze and his own mystery illness, so at the moment we hope we've made the right choice! ;D

Thanks for all your lovely comments everyone!

Ah thanks Julie, I really do hope things work out well for the boys. I have never regretted putting my older boys with a baby boar and now more recently making a trio up of two almost two year olds and four year old Snowy. Sometimes they have their moments and my resolve does wobble briefly, but they really do seem to be able to sort any squabbles out amongst themselves (maybe I am just extremely lucky). Even rigging up the runs in the shed hasn't caused too many problems. Although my gang have always lived close to each other, the boys thought it was their lucky day when they smelled "girlies" floor time a mere foot or so away, but after some initial rumbling and chattering things seemed to have settled down and I think they have realised that the girls are a definite no no! ;D

Keep the piccies coming. :)

I'm so pleased that Pepe has found a friend!

They look fantastic together!

It just shows how far Pepe has come that he is now confident enough to accept a friend - huge thumbs up to you guys!

Thank you :) We're so proud of how well Pepe's done. He has his moments now and again, but on the whole he's just fantastic.

Wow, Leo has some gorgeous markings! He's simply stunning, can't wait to see this little fella grow up :smitten:

You've posted some beautiful photos here, gorgeous. Congratulations, both of you!

Morning Julie, have you checked little Leo is still with you today? I think we are all very smitten with the little guy :) keep those doors locked ;D

There was some commotion during the night but Pepe had his tranquilizer gun and infra red goggles to hand so must have dealt with the problem hilmself! ;D
