I currently have the 6ft bluebell outdoor hutch from pets at home, but my daughters keep asking for another GP to add to our 5 female piggies.
Does anyone know of any other outdoor hutches for 6+ piggies?
Or any ideas on how I can extend my current hutch?

Thanks 😊

Your current hutch is considered to be the minimum size for 4 guinea pigs.
As you already have 5 in there, it would not really be ideal to add a sixth piggy.

Please also consider that adding more pigs to an established herd can be a complex process, and the best chance of success is to be able to bond the herd in a large neutral territory.
But even if they were to bond successfully they would need a bigger hutch set up in the long term.
You may find our bonding guides useful as they explain the process in great detail.

If you do want more guinea pigs you could consider trying to join two hutches together with a piece of pipe.
We have several members who have done this, and if you have the space (and DIY skills) this can be a good option.

As a minimum you need a 7ft hutch for five piggies (14 square feet), 8ft as a minimum for six piggies (16 square feet) etc
However, recommended size is 8ft for five piggies, 9ft for six piggies etc
Although you do say 6+ piggies so you would need to keep adding an extra two square feet per piggy

The only way to achieve a hutch big enough if you don’t have the diy skills to join two hutches is to have a carpenter specifically make one for you. There are no commercial hutches which are big enough for that many piggies - 6ft which is the recommended size for three piggies (or minimum for four) is as big as they go. Ryedale make hutches but the biggest on their website is 7ft

The other thing to consider is whether you have space for a shed (ideally heated) - that is the best way to house larger groups of piggies

Plus, creating larger groups makes for less stability so you would also need a way to split them up and house them if bonds don’t work out.

I have a herd of 6 . My 2 6ft hutches are in a shed and have an adjoining door . We used a runaround door system .

It’s very handy for cage cleaning as I can shut one side off for cleaning

You may just about be able to see the door in this picture.
