Thanks everyone. She had fun exploring during floor time this evening and has munched away on some emeraid as she has lost a bit of weight. She really likes it which makes things easierHolding you in my thoughts and prayers
It was the anaesthetic unfortunatelyPoor piglet! Was the crash during the attempted spay due to the anaesthetic or was it due to her condition ,(or both/something else)? Luna recently had a spay via her flanks which is less invasive, although still requires the same anaesthetic. My vet said recent studies have shown there are no ill effects on leaving the uterus intact for guineas; it's the ovaries which are problematic. The only other solutions I've tried for cysts have been hormone injections, but it's 50/50 whether they work in the first place and then the effects reduce with time. I've heard of aspiration that Wiebke mentioned, but had no experience with it myself. No idea whether any of that's helpful, but wishing you the best of luck with it! x
Of course. She seems a little better this morningGive her a good morning fuss from us![]()
