Holding you in my thoughts and prayers
Thanks everyone. She had fun exploring during floor time this evening and has munched away on some emeraid as she has lost a bit of weight. She really likes it which makes things easier 😂

Nomad appears to be feeling better! She's has a great time during floor time today and seems much brighter. There is also less squeaking at toilet time.
Fingers crossed! 🤞
As and when she is fully recovered, we will retest her urine and should she be bacteria-free (we can't risk her spreading anything), the plan is to bond her with Coco and Fuzzy whom she seems to adore through the bars. She seems a bit lonely so it would be lovely to have all three girls together 😍

Unfortunately Nomad is relapsing. She now has blood in her wee again, although not as much. She is also crying again quite badly.

We are going to try another antibiotic. The cotrimexazole seemed to be working, but the lab have recommended doxycycline so we will give that a go. The vet doesn't stock it so they will order it on Monday.

Poor little sausage. We've added in some more pain relief, and once she is fully dosed up she is a lot better. She really enjoyed floor time last night!

But we really need to get on top of her issues... 😕

Poor piglet! Was the crash during the attempted spay due to the anaesthetic or was it due to her condition ,(or both/something else)? Luna recently had a spay via her flanks which is less invasive, although still requires the same anaesthetic. My vet said recent studies have shown there are no ill effects on leaving the uterus intact for guineas; it's the ovaries which are problematic. The only other solutions I've tried for cysts have been hormone injections, but it's 50/50 whether they work in the first place and then the effects reduce with time. I've heard of aspiration that Wiebke mentioned, but had no experience with it myself. No idea whether any of that's helpful, but wishing you the best of luck with it! x

It was the anaesthetic unfortunately 😔
We're convinced there's an issue with her bladder as it is sore to palpate, but there could of course still be an issue with the cysts. Hers are non-hormonal so injections won't work for her 😕

But thank you for your input, it helps to hear others' experiences.

Fingers crossed we can get the doxy soon and it works. We thought we'd got it with the co-trimox as she got so much better, but has gone back downhill again. At least that indicates it is an infection were dealing with, but this particular bacteria is unusual and pretty nasty!

For some reason I have only just caught up with this thread. Poor Nomad :( sending positive vibes. she's been through so much bless her
