Guinea-Tia-Flossie

I went to pets@home today to buy my bunny & guinea food and my boyfriend pointed out to me a little bunny who looked to be in a trance. I went over and found him just sitting and looking abit 'spaced out' i reached over the enclosure and put my finger on the bunnies head and gently wiggled him to try and 'wake' him up, i waited a while and then stroked him. He didn't move and felt cold. I went over to a member of staff and told them i thought their bunny was ill. I pointed him out and he agreed and took him into the back room.

I'm just wondering what you think they will do with this little chap? I've been worried all day! thinking... should i have asked to take him home or was it best you to point it out and leave?

A cold bun is not a good sign :( Some branches have "in-house" vets. Hopefully they will be able to help the little thing.

you wanna keep ringing up or calling in to see whats happened,i know i would
and dont be sent away with crappy excuses

Nottingham p@h hasn't had a vets in for years! so i just don't know what the outcome for this bunny will be

poor bunny, i have to say, P@H shoudln't be allowed to sell pets.

i have decided to never buy piggies from pets at home, so i wont support them by giving them money. Every piggy who i love dearly of course has had problems.

Smidge - Had mites, skin infection and was wrongly sexed eye infection
Patch - had skin infection.
Fudge - unfriendly not used to people.

Lets hope they don't deal with him in the way they used to deal with ill small furries ? :'(

yup totally, and make youre no lies are being told by P@H just to shut you up

Pets @ home do have vets they are all required to have access to a vets. I am not sticking up for them here so do not jump on me. I have said many time that I have a friend who is a vet. Now she works for a practice and their local pet&home use them she deals with them sometimes and said its the conditions they are kept are not great. Once they animals go to nice homes they do fine. So this bunny will be seen by a vet and this vet does not just work for pets@home. I dont like pets@home myself and only go there now and again I buy from places that do not stock livestock. PLEASE dont jump on me for this post I am trying to say it how it is they have access to vet care and they do use it. Its not the staff that pay for there care.

true, some stores already have vets. inside, or on call.

Just out of interest was the rabbit white? White animals especially rabbits have little moments of 'phasing' when they go like they are in a trance and sometimes even sway a little from side to side. Its very common in bunnies, but I have seen my little DEW do it too.

My albino does that, she just goes into a day dream! ;D But no this bunny was grey. I don't mean to sound cheeky, but i have 22 rabbits so i know what an ill bunny looks like! i know more about rabbits than guinea pigs!

I feel awful now that i didn't try and take him home! i can't believe they hit them to death, i hope times have changed!

Wasn't implying that you didnt! Just trying to offer some help etc etc! I was expecting people to come back and say what on earth do you mean, so at least it was interesting to know someone else has experienced 'day dreaming' whiteys!

lol they are funny arn't they! I find albinos slightly odd though (in a cute way) how they just don't seem to bother to much about life in general! haha
I catch Ruby swaying from side to side atleast 3 times a day, mainly when she gets abit sleepy

It is funny they seem to be in a world completely of their own. I had a friend who had a white lionhead rabbit and Monty used to sit there for ages doing it and he looked soooo sweet!.

I have just read it, i must be hormonal as i just burst into tears :'( how horrible is that , surely people don't do that anymore.

I think tomm meant tomorrow..not sure though ;D

And baby-wilson, there was a link on here taking you to a website that said petsmart used to (well i hope it's used to) beat their ill animals...let me fine the link for you!

Just to point out to people that the link you have posted is talking about PetsMart, not P@H ;)

Yes, PetsMart were taken over by P@H - they are a different company ;)

While no-one trades under the name Petsmart any more the stores that the "alleged" cruelty went on in 1999 occurred in now trade under Pets at Home. In the UK they are now one and the same company, not different ones. What does it matter what they are called? The fact is, they haven't changed a bit.

Well, personally I would feel uncomfortable slating Morrisons for things that Safeway have done wrong, just because Morrisons took them over.

New company means new policies and new people. Just because the building is the same, it doesn't mean that they havn't changed.
