I supose its good they took them off...Weldone on the emails peeps. 88)

Did anybody else email the manufaturer? I just have.

They may remove the picture and wording for P@H, but continue to sell them as guinea pig balls elsewhere. I'm a bit worried about it. :-\

Oh no not the manufacterer as i thought p@h were doing it ?

Well, P@H have asked the manufacturers to remove the picture and wording, but the manufacturers may still choose to leave it on when they are sending stock to other stores, and in other countries.

The manufacturers email address is [email protected] if anyone wants to email them.

Just thought i would let you know that all stores recieved an e-mail today telling them to remove all balls from sale until futher notice. :)
Savic are removing the picture but they should really state on the packaging that they are not suitable for piggies.

Yep, thats what my email from P@H said. All balls were being removed from the shelves until the photo of a piggy was gone. ;D I have asked them to remove the wording on it too, as it still says 'for guinea pigs'.

I emailed Savic too, asking them to remove bothe the picture and the wording. They havent replied yet.

I think I am going to volunteer as an RSPCA campaigner. I feel really good about the emails we have sent and the replies we have had!

Oops I received an e-mail too it was in my Spam folder! :D It was just the bog standard one but still at least they acknowledged us all! Well done to them, it does seem they are trying to get their act together. If we are happy with them then it means more business so I think that is the way they are trying to go.

I actually can't fault pets at home, I've always found my 2 local ones to be excellent! :)

I only have one local one, and it is the only one I have ever been in. For most things they are brilliant, but I do have issues with the rabbits and guinea pigs in there. They always seem to be in together, even though there are 5 seperate enclosures. To me, there doesnt seem to be any need to put them together. I cant comment on other stores, as I don't go in them.

The exercise ball thing seems to be a national problem though, but the emails they have sent back sound very promising. I am very pleased with P@H for taking note.

Dear Michaela,

We apreciate your comments on this subject. We honestly did not know that a ball was dangerous for guineas, and we admit we were wrong.
We have started labbeling our current packaging with "not suitable for guinea pigs", and we have ordered new packaging without guinea pigs on it.
So, as from yesterday, not a single ball with guinea recommendation has left our premises.

In Pets at Home, there will be a similar banner in the racks where the balls are on display.

We thank you for bringing this to our attention and we hope you will not lose your trust in our company and products.
Kind regards,

got the email :D

I got one the same as michaela from the manufacturers! Yay! ;D

I have to say, I now have a lot more respect for Savic as a company for using the phrase "we admit we were wrong".

There aren't many companies nowadays who WOULD admit that. Well done Savic! O0

i know thats what i said to them in a response not many would admit but i admire that you did :D

I have e-mailed them too, I am new to gp keeping and even I know these things are bad for gp's. >:( >:( >:(

Just been into my local P@h and they're still selling the balls! They had the one everyone has been talking about with the picture on and also an extra large ball also by savic. There was nothing on the shelfs saying they're not suitable for guinea pigs. :tickedoff:

Bon Bon, can you tell me which branch of the store please? I will email again!

I emailed and said that I was very impressed with their response to my email, but was very dissapointed that they havent taken the action they said they would take. I wish I had time to get to my local store today to see if the changes have been made there.

Yeah I think everyone needs to check their local P@h to see if they're still selling them as well. I'm going back down tomorrow!

Good plan. O0 Everybody, please have a nose at the exercise balls next time you go in your local Pets At Home. They have promised there will be no balls with pictures of guinea pigs, or wording recommending them for guinea pigs, and that all stores will have a sign on the shelf to say that the balls are dangerous for piggies. It doesnt seem to be happening though! :-\

will hopefully pop in to my local tomorrow and I will check although the other week they had a rabbit in with the baby piggies goodness knows why as they have seperate pens for each animals ::) ::) ::)

Let me know if they have the balls, and if pigs and rabbits are together Dazie. I will add it onto my next email!
