Oh my goodness, how disgusting.those animals look wel cared for! the animals at my local store keep them in tiny glass cages with with guinea pigs and rabbits and only hideys for the guinea pigs. and tiny metal hamster wheels. ☹
It’s not a bad PAH, compared to some others. I have spotted some ill piggies (and even bought one, once...)those animals look wel cared for! the animals at my local store keep them in tiny glass cages with with guinea pigs and rabbits and only hideys for the guinea pigs. and tiny metal hamster wheels. ☹
i was there today and there were two children, maybe 13 and 11 opening the pig cage. i went up to them and closed it and they went away. it should be locked! ): then the little boy started obnoxiously squeaking a dog toy next to the cage. i was so angry! of course i didn’t say anything though now i wish i had told him to stop. i hate it so much that they sell animals but sadly it’s legal and they make money of it so there’s no way they’ll stopOh my goodness, how disgusting. ☹
You may be getting confused with white piggies and red eyes, these aren't lethals this is just genetic colouring. My biggest frustration about them is the lack of knowledge on genetics etc. No store has any business selling satins considering their potential health issues, roans or dalmations until they can 100% guarantee sexes in all stores, and they certainly shouldnt be selling lethal whites!
But that aside, my local store is pretty good, I very rarely see a poop, always loads of hay, they always look nice and healthy. I almost brought home a satin the other day but he was sold by the time I went back for him.

My Willow is a roan from PAH and she's very healthy. Never ever intend to breed any of my girls though
Not confused, genuine lethal whites have been sold or found.
My current pets at home roan is healthy, but my last one was sold to me pregnant and birthed a satin who was stunted due to Osteodystrophy. And I've seen other people's roans birth lethal whites. I'm not saying they shouldn't exist, but they shouldn't be bred in rodent mills that give no thought to their genetic health, to end up in stores who can't always identify genetic issues or pregnancies.
Apologies, I've never seen lethals, only white with red eyes. But no I totally agree with you, genetics should be consideredNot confused, genuine lethal whites have been sold or found.

I actually was thinking this this morning, I imagine they'd consider this and maybe allow a selective few members of staff (alternating days) to cover the care of their animals. And if lock down got to the point of people not being allowed out except to food shop, I'd imagine they'd had out passes for these peopleWhat happens to pets at home animals if no staff are in because of lockdown?
Our local PAH is set up like this too. I always look and watch the animals whenever we go to buy something, which annoys hubby coz it takes me too long.Just been to PAH as my hay wasn’t delivered, saw so many cute animals and really wanted to buy them all... Apparently over holidays there's a lottery to decide who has to come in and look after the animals every day, I imagine they'd just do something like that if they had to close the store. What happens to pets at home animals if no staff are in because of lockdown?
