Hi Cat, if you need a 2nd opinion and don't want to go to Northampton, remember my vet is in the outskirts of Glasgow but hopefully once your boy susses out how to use his new teeth it'll be on wards and up wards and no 2nd opinion will be needed as he'll be healthy again!

What a very kind offer of Debbie as well, she gives fantastic advice over the phone to so he really is in the best of hands, if you do decide to take her up on her offer at least you'll know he's in good hands!

Wishing Patch a very quick recovery!

Patch is doing a bit better today. He's put on just under 20g today and I've noticed that is front teeth have grown, so I'm hopeful that we're turning a corner now.

Thanks for your support everyone, especially Debbie, you've been a huge help! x

You're very welcome! I am thrilled to hear that Patch is doing a little better. I really hope he will soon be munching away happily. xx

Just not long done syringe feed number 4 of the day and he's taking 30ml each time.

He's put on 30g today which I'm chuffed about. Hopefully he's heading in the right direction and starts eating properly for himself.

Felt really bad this morning as I completely slept in and didn't get up until 10am, meaning that Patch was late in getting his meds and syringe feed but he was none the worse for it.... still felt super guilty.

You must have needed the sleep, I hope he's going in the right direction now!

I wouldn't feel to bad, I bet he was sleeping to! x

Just witnessed Patch pick up a slice of tomato and take it to his pigloo to eat! Woohoo!

Sorry to hear the work on his teeth didnt go as well. Great news that he's been putting on weight and started eating his veg again xx>>> Sounds like you've been doing a brilliant job with him and hopefully he'll soon be back to normal.

Patch's weight is very up and down.... He'd lost 35g overnight but when I weighed him out of curiousity he'd put 40g back on.

He's struggling with eating hay at the moment but can manage nuggets. His guts don't seem quite right, despite the fact that he's getting gut stimulant and probiotics twice a day. He's quite gassy and his poops are a bit soft. I'm still syringe feeding him but don't want to overdo it in order to encourage him to eat for himself.

Have also noticed that with his front teeth that his teeth aren't even. One side both top and bottom are longer than the other.

Also, to top it all off..... both Patch and Sneezy have lice! They've been bathed with Lice 'n' Easy Shampoo from Gorgeous Guineas and that's cleared the worst of them but they'll definitely need another bath or two.

It doesn't just rain.... it pours! grrrr:{

Hi. I have noticed when I am feeding CC that my guineas poops are a bit on the soft side so I wouldnt worry too much. The gut stimulant could be affecting the poops and the medication as well. It might be worth putting some probiotic and Vit C powder on the CC and mixing it in before syringing. The probiotic will help the piggies tummy while on the medication and the Vit C powder just helps to support piggies when they are poorly.

Hope that this helps

xx

He's already getting probiotic with the CC.

Went and saw the vet again. He evened up the front teeth and confirmed that Patch does have lice.

He also checked the back teeth and said that all the swelling has gone down but there is a very small bump on one of teeth at the back. He's hoping that it'll wear down when Patch is eating but if Patch doesn't start eating hay within the next couple of days, he may need to get rid of the bump. I'm only going to let him do it if it's done with Patch conscious.... certainly not giving Patch another GA!

Patch has deteriorated again and therefore I've made the decision, with Debbie's help that he needs to go down to Debbie to be seen by Simon Maddock.

Please see my post in the Announcements section.

Thanks x

Well Patch is a mystery. He went to see Simon today and Simon checked over his teeth and said they are perfectly fine.

However, the noise we thought was food building him and blocking his airways, is actually his breathing.

Simon thinks that he is congested but doesn't know what has caused it. He's put Patch on Zith-romax and hopefully that'll sort it out. It's now just a waiting game.

Well thats good that its not dental?

He will be home with you before you know it, cmon Patch, routing for you love x

Thats good. Hopefully the meds will kick in soon...x

On the bright side- if its a course of antibiotics and hes all better Jo and I can bring him home to you soon :). Hope he recovers soon. Hows his eating?

Hope Patch makes a full recovery.

Whatever the problem i'm sure Simon & Debbie will get to the bottom of it.

x

So sorry to hear poor Patch has been through the mill. I really hope he is now on the mend

Hope the antibiotics will sort little Patch, lots of healing vibes his way x
