Poor Pebbles! Hope there's a quick recovery! xx

I would say yes as when Gizmo was at his worst thats what noise he used to do when he peed.

x x

Thanks Sam going to get my mum to take her tomorrow if she can, if not it will have to be tuesday morning, and I'll just have to get it off work :(!

I hate working!

She won't take anything from me not even probiotics going to Asda tonight, is it the Ocean light one?

Yes that is the one. Maybe try and get some of that human cystitis relief too as Missy said she used that alongside metacam and septrin when one of her pigs had a UTI. I'm going to get some too and try it out. Gizmo was the same he hates being syringed water/cranberry juice but just keep trying, you may get more on you than in her mouth but at least you flushing her system with some water. :)

I agree, sounds and looks like UTI. You already know the usual m'dear - fluids, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. Ideal is Septrin and Rimadyl, but most commonly prescribed is Baytril and Metacam.

Potassium citrate based cystitis powders (like Cystopurin) can be useful, likewise with cranberry juice.

Good luck with her, sure she'll be fine. :)

Hmm... I might be just flushing the fur round her mouth :x

Thanks Laura, I've read about the usual but obviously never experienced UTI, so different when it's your own pig :))!

Should I just ask for Septin, if thats the best I'd rather give her the one most likely to work!

No harm in asking for Septrin. :)

Hehe i know what you mean about cleaning the fur rather than her drinking any! I always get soaked. :))

I completely agree with you there, its not the same until you experience your piggy being ill. I was devasted.

Disney is currently being treated for a UTI and she sounded just like that, she was given a Metacam injection and a 7 day course of Baytril, she is looking and sounding much better, I did buy Bepantham nappy cream as well as Disneys bum was so sore from the peeing :( this has worked a treat.

Your piggy will be fine xoxo

Bless her. Here's to Pebbles being back to full strength soon. It seems to be everywhere at the moment doesn't it? Dolly wasn't like that when she had what I thought may be one - she's better now after septrin but now I'm thinking maybe she had something else...

Get well soon Pebbles!

Pebbles is just a wee angel!

I was syringes her probiotics, we're having a break now.

I know that some vets prescribe this alongside septrin and it depends what strength one you have. I have the dog suspension for Gizmo and he has one drop twice a day. I give them 12 hours apart.

:)

Poor Pebbles. That is what Mimsi sounds like when he has bladder problems. Luckily Mimsi loves cranberry juice and I give him loads. I also give him baby calpol for pain relief. As you know things are a bit more complicated with Mimsi and his bladder stone, but his painful and bloody urine normally passes after a couple of days.

Standard guinea pig dosage for dog Metacam is 0.1ml ("2 drops" ) 2x daily.

For the cat suspension, multiply by three (dog metacam is three times stronger than cat metacam).

Hope you can get Pebbles sorted quickly, poor girl. I'm no expert but, as you know, plenty of us here have had similar problems with our piggies (myself included) so just keep us all updated and ask away!x

Reversing a bit I remember I gave Pebbles Strawberry today that is probably what has tinged her urine.

My mum is going to take her to the vet tomorrow, as she is in pain when passing urine.

Fingers crossed I can get an appointment :o. I so wish I wasn't working :(!
