Vets

Back from the vet they tested her wee, and there was traces of blood. The vet has prescribed the same as her sister 10 days of 0.5 mls of septrin. She wheeked for her wee life. I don't know who is more nervous the pig or me.

I used the opportunity to ask about GA, and what would happen to my surprise the vet said if it was needed they would try to Xray without GA. If that didn't work they would use gas. Which sounds good. It is still a GA but apparently they recover quicker from it.

Also well I was there I got her checked for mites as she does have alot of Dandruff and seems to be scratching. To phone back for the results. All and all the vet appointment wasn't all that bad. I just gave her first dose of Septrin so hopefully it should kick in soon.

I took Fred as a companion pig and I really thought I'd lost him somewere along the way as he didn't appear atall and when I got home I was looking though the hay and fleece to find Fred traumatised hiding amongst the hay and fleece.

awww, hun, i hope it all gets sorted soon, good news about the G.A, so it seems, some vets are learning! :)

Your name change completely confused me this morning btw! :{

Poor girl. Dandruff is usually fungal isnt it?

I hope it's neither and just a bit of dandruff.

Poor Fred - he didn't enjoy the trip then.

Hope she's better in no time honey.
xx

Glad I'm not the only one confused by the name change, get your avatar back up Joanne so we can find you more easily! :))

I am glad the vet visit went so smoothly and you got what you needed for Wilma, well done getting the urine sample, makes diagnosis much quicker and easier. Let's hope the crying when peeing stops soon and she can get fully recovered like Pebbles. xx

Awww... hugs to you, Wilma and Fred. Quite an eventful morning. Hope Wilma is feeling better very soon. x

oh no the bug must being passed around between the piggies hope you get it all sorted soon! best wishes to the piggies

Normal?

Whats your thoughts after she moved, she had not passed either pellets or urine? I think she looks unfortable, or maybe shes camera shy :)).

Aww bless her. In the video, Wilma does look slightly uncomfortable. My Connie would do that as well. It must be sore for her trying to pee. I hope she recovers soon.

As for the dandruff, I took Eleanor and Eliza to the vets as they have dandruff but it turns out they (especially Eliza) has dry skin x

I think she looks ok? How worried are you?

Not very, just thought it was a bit odd she kept moving from side to side. I only caught the last shimmy so to speak, no squeaking when weeing just worried shes still in pain and not squeaking!

Did you have music on? Maybe she was dancing?:laluot_31::laluot_15::laluot_31:

Maybe she could give spelbound a run for their money!

Patrick is now doing the swaying bum thing and a light squeak when he pee's possible UTI?

Should I separate him and Pebbles I don't want her getting it again! :(

Personally I wouldn't put them on their own.

Have you eliminated any other possible causes like washing powder residue? It's a night mare with a few of them - when Flopsy was fungal I was so paranoid of the others!

And he may not have anything - he may just be feeling sexy :(|)

True, :(|).

I'll take him out later and see if he'll pee again, it could have been his warning I need to pee, whoops to late!

He could have been saying 'For goodness sake woman, stop watching and let me pee in peace'. :(|)

Hope he pees squeak-free later. x

That's exactly right - mine do that when they don't want to pee anywhere except their cage.

A step backwards.

Pebbles finished her 10 day course of anitbiotics Friday, my mum told me it was a 7 week course, but when I was at the vets with Wilma they informed me it was 10 days, so she didn't have any med's yeseterday as the course was complete, although I do have some left.

I have just had Pebbles out to check her and she's crying which seems odd, as every other day I checked her she wasn't but she clearly is now. I have gave her med's today. I will be contacting the vet tomorrow, does this just mean she needs longer on her med's or should I now be looking at an Xray or possibly I could take a urine sample and get it tested.

Any thoughts?

If she is still crying, the infection is probably still present or her bladder may still be inflamed from the infection. Some UTI's can be very stubborn and can take a while to go. My Eliza was on Septrin for 4 weeks until she was finally clear.

I would take a urine sample back to the vets and see what they say xx

I called the vet this morning it seems they won't prescribe more antibiotics and she to go back. She has an appointment at 10.10. Currently vet bill in 2 weeks £34 set to increase but here's hoping she gets better soon xx
