Hello my lovelies!

Sorry i haven't been on/ replying to threads. There is about 20 pages of thread updates, so ill have a nosey through them later. :)

Hope you don't mind me posting, just a wee worried now ive phoned the vets and just wanted some reassurance.

Percy-Roo has been losing weight gradually over the past month, i didn't think it was too urgent till we bathed him last night. He has been eating, drinking fine, he's breathing okay, pooping, but has been ever so miserable, generally not bumbling about as he usually does and just sits. Nothing else. The first week i thought it was due to the awful weather and him not being outside on the grass as much so on okayish days i put the run on the pavement to keep him amused, the second week i made the hutch more interesting (hay in loo rolls etc) and brought him indoors for more one to one interaction.

But this week, the third week its been the worst. He's not moved from his little hay loft since Saturday, he’s very docile, not wheeking at all, compared to tabby he just looks like hes giving up. Normally in bath time he splashes about, and popcorns in the bath but last night he just sat facing the wall of the tub, not moving.

When we did bathe him we could see how skinny he was compared to Tabby (whose at 950) Percy-Roo at the beginning of May was 980, hes gradually lost weight over the weeks (whilst still eating his normal diet) and is now at 700.:{:(

I phoned the vets this morning and the receptionist was really lovely and had a word with the vet whether he should come in asap or later on in the week, after speaking to the vet she advised me to come in this afty. So i have an appointment at 3.30.

I just don’t know how to describe his symptoms hes just miserable!

:( Laura xx

Poor Percy-Roo, he definatley needs a check up with that weight loss. Can't imagine what is going on if he's eating the same as usual. Hope everything will go ok. Lots of vibes his way and hugs to you x

Aw bless his cotton's. sorry cant shed any light, just wanted to say hello and nice to see you, and also wish percy roo well this afto, i hope all is ok and they can find a cause so that it can be put right.

Love of love and wheeks x

awww no! I hope its something that is easily fixed and he's back to his usual self before you know it.

I really do hope everything goes well at the vets, poor little Percy-Roo :(

Oh no Percy-Roo! You certain don't sound like a well chappie at all :(
No idea what it could be if he's still eating and drinking but obviously cause for concern poor chap. I do hope he'll be ok.
Is there any news yet? :...

:( Poor P-Roo, sending him all of my healing vibes. Definitely the right thing to take him to the vets sooner rather than later, any news on the appointment?

Fingers firmly crossed for Percy-Roo!

Heyoo,

Sorry for the late update i was with the vet for 30 mins,:red a lot of unhappy folks glaring at me and Percy-Roo when we came out!

The vet was wonderful, she did a lot of tests with Percy, prodding and poking, asking lots of questions. She had a gentle squeeze of Percy-Roos sides and he was uncomfortable and a little unhappy when she was squeezing however he didn't yell in pain so she believes he might have a UTI however he's not showing the classic symptoms (blood in urine and squeaking when peeing) so shes put him on medication for two weeks.

However she does want me to come back as hes showing signs of diabetes, drinking excessively, weight loss and peeing lots if he doesn’t put weight on in the next month and if he loses weight ive got to go asap.
He’s really thin, the vet couldn’t believe how much weight hes lost from the last time she saw him. So going to try and keep his appetite up.

Thank you for the support folks!:(|)

Oh no, so sorry to hear Percy-Roo's not well :(
One of my piggies was at the vets two weeks ago as she had lost weight and I suspected diabetes/kidney problems but the vet couldn't find anything wrong... just advised to keep an eye on her weight. I could see she had lost compared to her huspig but luckily, she has maintained her weight since but what a worry 8...
Did they advise some critical care to build him up ?
Sending Percy-Roo lots of healing vibes and hope he feels himself very soon x>>

Oh my goodness

Percy-Roos bleeding, from his behind. His hairs all matted with blood its pinky red, hes not bleeding now but its whenever he pees.

I'm going to take him back to the vets asap tomorrow. 8... this wasn't happening till today.....could it be from the vet feeling his sides?

I'm in panic mode! I've given his meds, and i have some CC I can make up. Any suggestions?

oh my goodness I don't know hun sorry but maybe you should ring your emergency vet for advice?
I really wouldnt know hopefully they can help or someone with a similar experience will see this *hugs*

I would phone the vet for advice ASAP. Hopefully you'll be able to speak to the one you saw earlier, but they may not be on call. They will at least be able to look at his notes and decide whether or not you need to worry

Good plan, i'm rummaging through the vet folder as we speak (type). It just shocked me when i put him back into his hutch, and as he bobbed off his backside instead of white was pink, all he's done is sat sleeping in his carry case outside in the run.

update found the emergancy vet number phoning....

8... oh god, defo phone the vets. Are you sure it's when he wees or is it coming from his bottom? Keep him out on a cream fleece if you can and wait for him to pee/poo to work out exactly where it's coming from. Poor boy, hope you can get something sorted. I'm literally going through the same thing now with Mabel :( horrid and such a worry!

On the phone to my vet (:))....shes just saying that she suspected Percy-Roo had a UTI when he came in today...looks like he has been run down for a few weeks and this has lead onto the onset of the UTI....however he is on bactrum, so this will work but it might take a few weeks for it to settle.

Shes also saying try him with cranberry juice diluted.......I'm going have to nip to tesco.

To change his bedding tonight to grey or white vetbed/ towels, and keep him dry. If i can clip his hair round his rear.

I'm also nipping into the vets tomorrow morning first thing :)

The main thing is to keep him dry and comfortable.

Poor Percy-Roo! Healing vibes for the little man!

How is he doing Laura? I hope the little guy is ok. Hopefully it will start to clear and he'll start feeling better soon :). All the best! xx
