Junior Guinea Pig
Hi everybody, i have a pig (almost 2yo) that is having today his third general anaesthesia in the last month and a half. He had dental issues and his teeth were trimmed twice and even tho he seemed to eat much better after surgeries he than became worse. I must mention he is not eating hay and if he does it's only the soft dried grass and not the hay straws. Today i took him back for a xray and i mentioned to the doctor that at this moment he is not eating absolutly anything (i hand feed him) and since the last trim his poops have been all different from each other and sometimes he poops like 3 pellets at a time that are stuck together, so i asked her to do a belly xray as well and she recomanded a CT. In a couple of hours i will go pick him up but i have a question for owners of pigs with dental issues: if your pig recovered after surgery and he returned to the bad habits (like not eating hay) how often would you take them for a trim? How many anaesthesia is considered too much and affecting the pig? I do not know what else to do to him, i am disperate. I changes the doctors between the two trims but exotic vets are very rare in Romania. Current it's an exotic vet and i saw people taking their rodents to her so i assume she must know more about rodents than a clasic vet.
