I'm so upset, my neighbours kids came in my garden this morning (our gardens have ajoining gates). When my neighbour noticed she called them back. However, when i went outside about 10 minutes later, my hutch doors were open and only 1 (out of six ) guinea pig was in there. I searched my garden and found 4 but I can't find the last one....

I've searched all the gardens but can't find her....I'm so sad. She was a lovely little piggie and I hate the thought of her being out there all alone.

My neighbours have gone out but I'm going to put a lock on the gate and mention this too them when they return.

I don't know what to do, this was about 10am this morning and I still havent found her. Am I likely too? :(

Maybe you could knock on all of your neighbours doors and ask them to keep an eye out for her? Ask them if you can look in their gardens to see if you can find her? Look in dark places especially - under hedges, bushes etc.

Really hope you find her! xx

Oh that's awful.
I dont have any experience like this so dont know what the chances are.
Just keep hoping and praying she will come back.
And tell the neighbours to keep their brats under control.

oh wendy, I'm so sorry to hear that, thats the worst thing that could happen. Fingers crossed she may wander back or hasnt gone too far.

yes i agree a lock would be good, but i would suggest on the cage to stop the kiddies from getting in there, so no more escaping piggys.

I would be angry, i feel for you, xx

How awful for you :(
Yes I would ask all the neighbours to keep an eye out and try rustling a bag of veg and putting some near the hutch to tempt her back.

I really hope you find her x

I would really check your garden well. I don't think they tend to venture too far. I know Nikki had one of her piggies escape and he was missing for about 24 hours I think, but he was found safe and well. I'm keeping everything crossed for you! I really hope you find her. xx

It's awful really as they are normally in the shed but I've been clearing out the shed ready for winter so moved them into the garden for a couple of days.

I've mentioned before if she could keep her kids in her garden as last time they broke my garden ornaments.

I've put out some veg and food in a bowl in hope she'll come back...her hutch mate is calling for her so hopefully she might come back but as times getting on I'm doubtful.

We have lots of cats and birds round here, not to mention the foxes after dusk! So so sad! :(

Oh this is awful, poor you, I do feel for you. You must be pulling your hair out!

Don't know what to suggest, put all her favorite foods out and hopefully she will hear her cage mate calling to her!

I really hope you find her soon x

oh no really hope she comes back some peoples kids do my head in pow-pow

How awful for you. :(

The others are right, they don't tend to venture far. Is there any way you can monitor your garden from afar? As she's scared she might only appear later when all is quiet and still...

I really hope you find her soon.
xx

Oh no how sad :(

Do you have any giant rat traps? They do not kill the animal just trap them. We used one for an escaped hamster once.

I really hope you find her, crossing fingers

Little sods - some people are far too lax on their kids.

Really hope you find the missing piglet.

can you not go and talk to the niegbours childen and just say that becaude they came into the garden and opened the hutch that one of the pigs are missing and you are very sad by the loss,,,, i mean i take it (and this is not meant the wrong way) that the cage was bolted from foxes, so no one but them could let them in?

or can you not talk to your neigboours like this

This is so sad. my heart goes out to you and i hope your little one comes home safe and well.

god my spelling was bad in that post sorry ,, also what i ment to say was i am sorry the pig has gone missing i hope you find her soon

Oh no how awful.

Could she have got underneath the hutch at all or behind it? Just a thought as one of our rabbits squeezes himself behind the hutch when its bedtime in the hope we can't get him.

Fingers crossed for you.

oh gosh, i hope you get her back.. maybe go around the garden with a bag and rustle it? see if she squeaks at all.. whats behind your house is it fields or roads etc? you could maybe have a walk around rustling the bag too see if you can hear anything?

I really hope she turns up, good luck!

well the plot thickens.............

I'm at my wits end....... So as you saw from my first thread, the hutches were all opened and all but one had been found. Ive spent all day searching mine and neighbours gardens...

Then I thought it was really time to take the dog across to the green behind our house........when I came back (being gone about 45 minutes) there was a lady at my door proclaiming to have found my piggy...but she thought it had broken back legs...when she unwrapped him it was one of my other boars.... who I'd already found and put back in the hutch this morning...so I ran to the hutches (to make sure they were not open again) and low and behold my brown sow...who had been the missing one was sitting back in her hutch with my other sow!

So someone has put my missing sow back in the hutch and taken a boar from the other hutch and then someone apparently found him in a nearby carpark and had been knocking door to door asking if anyone had lost one??
I'm so confused? The only explanation I can think is that someone was after a Boar, accidently took a sow, put her back and then took a boar but then thought he was ill and so brought him back...he does not have broken legs he was just tramatised!

Who would go to all this trouble!

Can anyone offer an explanation....I'm so worried someone is trying to piggy nap my babies! It's just the strangest situation! Ive moved them all into my locked shed!

(and maybe i need to apologise to next door?) opps!

OMG thats the strangest thing! I would keep them in the locked shed and call the police just to give them a heads up to patrol the areas incase someone is stealing animals.

Hope all turns out ok.

Louise

Gosh that all sounds so confusing!

Are they all back with you now then? I guess that's the main thing but how worrying for you!

I agree with Louise, definately phone the police and tell them what happened. Keep them in a locked shed or can you keep them inside for the winter at least? my god, thats terrible x

This is weird, and I have no answers, but I'm just thankful you have all your "family" safely back home with you.

That is the oddest thing I have ever, ever heard! Why would anyone do that? I can visualise maybe stealing someone's piggies at bait for dog fighting (Grrrr!) but spesifically looking for a boar? It's not like piglets are animals that are commonly stolen "to order" like horses!

I would definatly call the police, but YAY for your babies being back, that's wonderful. :)

Yes, its just so strange....at first I thought I was losing my marbles.... but I know she was missing...

They are going in the locked outbuilding, can't keep them all inside (too many of them)

Just cant understand it, it's really bugging me.
I phoned the police and they thought I was the local nutter! They said as they were all back safe and sound there wasnt really a crime!

Hi wendy, I have only just came across this thread. omg what an awful situation. If I were you I would phone the police as Louise has already advised and also put padlocks on all your hutches just to be on the safe side. There are some real sick people about if someone was trying to steal one of your babies. All the best x

How bizzare! we dont think youre a nutter :))

So glad they are all safe and sound!

pleased for you

I'm so glad you have them all back safe and sound. it is a very strange event do you have community wardens who walk around your estate? if so let them whats happened sometimes they are more approcable and listen to you more than the police

and keep them under lock and key

regards

karen
