Bitzy&Patches
Junior Guinea Pig
Hello everyone,
I was just cleaning out my piggies and getting them ready for bed and I noticed that there was a little blood on one of their cushions. Now it wasn't a huge puddle of blood just a few blobs and I think I know which piggie it is.
They don't seem to be in pain, they're not hunched or walking around strangely. They're eating, drinking, scoffing up their veggies in the morning, still popcorning and getting excited and they still make a ton of noise at night! So nothing is out of the norm.
My mum says that I should keep an eye on them and if it seems to be getting worse then we'll take them to the vet because patches (the pig I think the blood may be coming from) has problems with dry feet and sometimes she might take a scab off and sometimes it bleeds. I've been using the gorgeous guineas foot ointment on her feet to hopefully help her a bit.
I feed my piggies on the harringtons pellets and for veggies they usually get romaine lettuce, salad from salad bags, peppers (all colours) tomatoes (usually 2 times a week) carrots, kale, green beans, some times apple, celery (usually 2 times a week) little gem lettuce, and the sweet little gem lettuce. They get pillow wad meadow hay and they sometimes get burgess forage and the burns forage. Obviously I mix it up for them but I had this huge scare that maybe she could be passing through tiny kidney stones or something like that. But other than that I'm not sure where the blood could come from.
My mum also had a thought that maybe they could be like us ladies and maybe they have periods?? I wasn't sure at first but I know dogs do if they're not spayed. But I'm not sure it was just a thought!
So if you have any idea then it would be much appreciated because I'm kind of terrified!
