It's to late rn to take her into the vet.. (My family is all sleeping)

I'm playing my game and look over at my Piggy Lizzy (she has ring worm rn but it's clearing up) and she looked like she was trying to throw up... Idk should I take her to the vet tomorrow morning..? (i probably will either way...) 😭😭😭😭

I'm guessing she was having a heaving motion? Guinea pigs can't actually throw up, but they may make that kind of motion if they have food stuck, dental issues, or if they are having a hard time catching breath. They can also get hiccups that may look similar. Did it start and stop and is her breathing normal now?

Hope she’s ok now. Hope you can get in at the vets today. 🤞she’s ok.

Rosie does it sometimes, she's a tad greedy and eats way too fast
Though it's always a good idea to go to the vet if you have any concerns!

Hi!

If the throwing up doesn't settle down very quickly, please have your guinea pig seen as an emergency. Guinea pigs, like all rodents don't have a vomit reflex.

It is impossible for us to say whether you are dealing with a short spell of heaving hiccups (which are harmless and should be over after a short time) or something more serious like diaphragmic heavy breathing, something stuck in the mouth or throat or a twisted gut - the later are all very serious issues.

Fingers crossed that it is just a short bout of hiccups!
