I went to the vet to check my piggy as I noticed she was lying a bit more than usual and had some bumps on her . The vet said she had arthritis and gave me medication to give to her. Is there any thing else I can do to help her and make sure she’s okay?

Is the medication metacam/loxicom? Usually arthritis is just a matter of keeping them comfortable and pain free. I believe you can get vegan glucosamine supplements which can be given as well but I haven't done this before and can't remember which members have (I'm sure one of them will be along shortly)

I've used glucosamine before. I'd recommend asking the vet about it as it can be dosed at different amounts. Your vet should be able to judge how much would be helpful for her :)

Okay thank you and yes, the medicine is loxicom

A couple of my boys have arthritis and have meloxaid and glucosamine and that seems to help. Also worth having a look through the cage and just checking that there are no tricky obstacles eg hay trays with high sides, ramps, beds with high sides etc. Stiff back legs seem to struggle with them. So I go for flat fleece beds or pieces of vet bed for the old boys.

Oxbow do a joint support tablet with glucosamine and turmeric for anti inflammatory.
The tablets are a little on the big side but can be broken up or crushed. xx
