Morning All!
I may have inadvertently become the owner of a lionhead bunny.

I am aware of the issue of Bordetella bronchiseptica, and am also aware that this is carried, too, by dogs, which I also have. My pigs and old dog get on very well, and are very good friends, so often come in to close contact when we're all on the sofa.

Should we rehome the rabbit, it would be in the same room as, but certainly not the same cage or run as, the guinea pigs - would this be considered safe? I understand Bordetella bronchiseptica is not an airborne disease, so removing physical contact should suffice?

Nothing is set in stone, as my piggies come first! It is just a bunny needs homing urgently, I fear it may be 'released' into the fields otherwise (in which case I will take it anyway and force it on my mum.. until we can get a home!).

Thanks for any advice!

I’ve also got piggies and a rabbit but not in close contact. I think I read somewhere that as long as they aren’t kept closer than 4 foot or so that bugs can’t jump species. Obviously hygiene is a big issue so no sharing of food dishes and fleeces etc. I think it’s also a bug that can’t live long if not actuallly on the animal but you might want to look that up to be sure.
@BossHogg has rabbits so may be able help you

My pigs and buns live in the same shed and forever raiding each others food bowls. I've never had any problems and mine have co resided for many years. (in separate hutches) ;)

Aww lionheads are sooo cute. My four are all part lionheads.

Well? Have you become a Bunny slave? Waiting to hear!
I ended up buying a rabbit last week!
Aren’t we all just so easily swayed into getting new furries?!

Congratulations on your new arrival! You;ll have to share a photo of him/her!

It's looking like the end of November.. so I'll have plenty of time to go out and buy too many bunny things, with piggy additions so the boys don't feel left out of course!
So excited!

Oh but their little furry faces.. how are we supposed to say no..?! :)

Good you’ll have time to get even more excited!

Oh how beautiful! How are you finding it? Is she free-range (that's my plan, but aware it might be tricky..!)?

I'm very jealous!

Sadly my lot are NO WAY cuddlers. They do happily crowd round me at pellet oclock though and are so cute that I forgive them.

Haha! My Higgins hates cuddles - he'll deal with a head rub with his feet firmly on the ground and clamber all over me when I'm in the run with them, but he won't be cuddled! Gibson on the other hand.. he loves a cuddle!

I've heard a lot of cuddle-free bunny tales, so I'm not expecting anything different..!
