Hi guys,

My Guinea Pigs have been ripping apart the correx I've been using as a base,
So I decided to pick up a plastic table cloth from B and N to use underneath to protect the lino floor from urine and such, because I think this will work better for me to clean then the ridges in the correx anyway.

Does anyone else use this method?
Do you just lie it flat underneath or do you use grid ties to attach it to the cubes?

We use a plastic sheet from Dunhelm, then on top towels, then on top fleece. Then the grids. Works well for us :)

My group have one under their cage as two of them are correx munchers XD. Works well for me :)

I cut my correx wrong so used a tarpaulin instead for years it was only £2 from Poundstretcher and so could just change it when it got grotty.

We use a waterproof table cloth on top of our correx, since correx is impossible to get here.
It works really well, but I have to say that Ruby does like to eat it if I leave even the smallest piece poking up above the fleece.
But it was pretty cheap and she doesn't actually swallow the pieces she chews off - just drops them around the cage to freak me out.

Aww Ruby is such a little darling I can't believe she freeks you out on purpose @Swissgreys .
I put plastic file binders along the top edge of the corex to stop them chewing it.
I am thinking of applying some plastic file binders to Ruby's teeth :gd:

I used oilcloth as a base instead of corex. I tried to shape it in a similar way to correx and taped it to the sides (I didn't have wire grids though). I wanted it taped to the side so any pee/poo that did get on it would stay inside the cage. It worked quite well. My carpet was definitely protected and dry.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I'd seen someone say they used a table cloth on a different thread and thought it'd be perfect for my guys!

I'll try it out tomorrow when I clean them out!

Can someone post a link to some on ebay or Amazon as I can't find them. I need some as the babies chew the correx!

Thank you both. Couldn't work out what to type into the search!

So long as you have a thick layer of absorbing matter. I get my from the DIY store Wilkes. Its only half the depth of the one on line. It's cheap so we can replace every 2 or 3 months

@Phoebeadams21 Please don’t post the same thing in three different places. Nor the same post on the same thread twice.
