Hi!
I’ve been thinking of purchasing this playpen for my two piggies, but I wasn’t sure if the Large size would be big enough. I was considering getting two but the space I have would fit one better. Does anyone have any recommendations? Would one be enough space for them both to run around for floor time or should I spring for two?

I think the size requirement for floor time is decided by how long they will be spending in it and how large their cage is. If your cage is on the smaller side or you are planning on putting them in there for longer, then you would be better going for a larger space
The bigger the better really, the best thing is having a safe room for them to run around in though it can be very difficult for some people (I don’t have a safe room for my pigs so I make sure they have a cage much bigger than the requirements).

A more versatile alternative is using C&C grids held together by cable ties, this means they can be moved around and flexed, as well as folded down (mostly) for storage. There are also metal pens available that are made of a number of panels held together by metal pins that slot vertically through loops on the ends of the panels, this means they can be entirely deconstructed for storage and you can buy multiple and join as many panels as you like together to make a pen as large or small as you need.

hi!
thanks for the response. their cage is a bit over 8 feet i believe and i plan to give them 1-2 hours of floor time a day hopefully. i went ahead and bought one of those pens i posted, just to see if they’ll like it before getting two. if they do like it, i’ll probably buy another and connect them so they have plenty of room to run. i may also try to figure out a way to find space for them to just run around on the floor surrounding. the c&c grids sound helpful but i’m worried about price for those 😥
thank you again for the advice i’ll be sure to consider all of it

Sounds like your pigs have plenty of space!:D
Just so you know (as I am aware that it can be expensive) if you have plenty of space in the cage, there is no need to worry too much about having loads and loads of space outside the cage. As long as they have enough space then the most important thing is enrichment.

:agr:

You say their cage is 8 feet. Do you mean it is 8 feet long or covers 8 square feet (or is 4 feet by 2 feet in size).
If it is 8 feet long then they don’t need floor time.
If it covers 8 square feet as that is minimum size then floor time would be good for them

hi!
their cage is 4ft by 2ft, so 8 sq. feet. they also seem more active and happy when they get floor time so i’m definitely going to do it for them!
