moosepistachiooreo
New Born Pup
One of my two guinea pigs passed away around two weeks ago, leaving my other guinea pig alone. My guinea pig that passed Oreo, I've had for months now, we got him a friend, Moose, because we heard it was best for them to have company. The two of them got along right away and Moose was the dominant one since Oreo was around 4 months and Moose was 8. They knew eachother for about a week or two before Oreo passed from unknown causes. Moose did not seem very upset, he was eating, moving around and seemed somewhat normal. A few days after, we got him a friend, Pistachio. Pistachio is around 6 months old and him and Moose do not get along at all. Pistachio rumble struts around Moose and Moose has lunged at him every time we put them together and has even pulled out his hair from biting. Moose has also become very aggressive, even with me and my brother. He chatters his teeth with me when I try picking him up and he does the same thing to Pistachio before he lunges at him. It's been around a week and I've tried everything to get them to get along. Ive had them both in my lap to just be around each other, I've put them in a neutral space to get along, and now they're in the same cage with a separator. Neither of them are giving up dominance and I'm not sure if they will ever get along. It feels very wrong to have to take pistachio back to the shelter after bringing him into a new home, but I don't want either of them to get sick from the stress of not being the boss. Please give me any advice you can. Sorry for the length.
