I've just collected Betsy and Dennis from the Boarders. Dennis sounds like he's snoring and is a bit grunty. I'll have to take him to the vet tomorrow. I think he has the start of a URI by the sounds of it. He still ate his veggies, is running around and is still quite bright.

All the best! The stress from not being in their accustomed home can lower the immune system and make a piggy more susceptible to opportunistic illnesses. But I hope that it is just a temporary issue and not a URI. All the best tomorrow.

Oh no Dennis. Get well soon. Lots of healing wheeks from my four 😘

Poor Dennis. Not what you needed. Hope all is sorted soon, and he continues to enjoy his veggies.

Just got back from the vets. The vet said that Dennis just has a bit of inflamation. His lungs are clear and his temperature is normal. Dennis has been prescribed Metacam for 5 days. If he gets a snotty nose or starts sneezing I have to phone them up and they will put some YUKKY Baytril up for him that I have to go and collect.

Just seen this, hope poor little Dennis makes a full recovery from his snuffle, doesn’t sound like an infection, maybe a bit of hay dust x

Oh bless him! Sending lots of healing vibes for a speedy recovery and lots of hugs for the best piggy mum!

Dennis had his 6th dose of Metacam this morning and has stopped grunting!:yahoo: Yesterday and last night he sounded like a steam train 🚂 bless him. I'm so pleased I managed to catch it early before it developed into a URI. I still have to dose him up for another couple of days. The vet said until Thursday. I'm very glad I don't have to try and get Baytril into him as he hates the stuff. :vom:

Just as well Betsy didn't witness that! She loves Dennis and she is a one boar piggy and won't share him with anypig!

So after a nearly a week of no grunting from Dennis, I picked him up tonight to put him back in the run and what do I hear? A faint grunt again! He is back on the Metacam for now as I can't take him to the vet until Thursday cos I am taking son no 3 to Uni tomorrow. Hopefully that will sort it for the short term. I'll phone the vets first thing Thursday morning. The vet I saw before said I only had to phone up if he didn't get any better and they would put some Baytril by for him and he wouldn't need another re-examine. Lets hope not as Dennis finds the visits to the vet very stressful when Betsy and I are allowed in with him. So he must feel super stressful when we aren't there. I'll keep you all posted.

Poor Dennis, hope that grunt goes away soon.
