PopCorning - Strop Corning!

Just a bank holiday musing..

I know popcorning’s often associated with piggies being happy but I’ve noticed mine seem to do it most when they’re annoyed. Winnie will often jump and spin in the air when she’s annoyed at how long it’s taking to get her veg to her, or if you offer her something that’s not exactly what she wanted I love to see how spirited she still is at the age of 6.5. Her stropcorns sometimes end with her jumping on her furniture.

Dottie will do an angry squeak jump if she thinks Winnie has been given something better to eat (she doesn’t, it’s just Dottie’s incurable FOMO). And the only time Winnie zooms these days if she’s hangry and waiting for food. The stropcorns can also be brought on by one pig being too close to the other. Winnie is an Abyssinian and Dottie is an aby/peruvian cross, and one of our vets said she finds Peruvians can be quite the divas. I’m sure different personalities come in all breeds and types, but these two are definitely not backwards in coming forwards.

Anyway assuming they’re not too annoyed or frustrated, it’s highly amusing to watch.

I've had/have several piggies that strop popcorn. It's so funny to see them do this when something goes wrong or their cage mate gets one over on them and they popcorn as if to say 'I meant that to happen'.

My Joe (aby) was a PRO hangry-popcorner. And happy popcorn too. My Kongo (hippo? Pony? We dont know...) is too fat to really popcorn, but when he's pissed he shakes his head like "omg cant believe that. Only ONE carrot! So unfair". When he's happy he does some kind of happy seizures.

Winnie does the head shake thing- she shakes her head and flounces off if she’s being offered the wrong snack (and sneaks back five minutes later to eat it anyway)

Hahaha true! I had no idea how expressive piggies are until I had some, it’s wonderful isn’t it

Mourne harasses the ladies, gets chased off, and leaves in a part-popcorn-part-zoomies fest every single time. Those aren't wins, Mourne, I don't know why you want to celebrate them.
