This is something I'm not sure if I'm doing right.
What size of veggies should be given?
For example

For a carrot, a whole one, half of one, a quarter?

Romaine lettuce, a whole big green leaf or half or less?

Piece of celery...whole stalk/stem, half quarter?

I knwo that is also going to depend on how big the carrot is in the first place ;D but taking for an average size of everything

I'm giving 2 or 3 pieces of veg twice a day so I'm sure John Anderson is getting enough, but I'm not sure if I've got the portion sizes too big, small or just right?
This morning he had half of a carrot, about 2 inches of celery and a couple of sprigs of corriander and a sprig of parsley

This evening I'll probably give him about 2 inches of cucumber, romaine lettuce and possibly brocolli or apple (not had apple this week)

Does this sound about right?

He also gets grass when he goes out in the run outside, but since he's having to share the run with Bob, he's getting more indoor floor time for exercise (he's easier to catch indoors than Bob is)

hmm..i give more than that to mine, but thats personal choice as long as mine have had a good large handful each per day I'm happy..they normally get more than that though.

between my boys they get 2 leaves of cabbage, some kale, 1 piece of brocolli and a bit of stalk, a whole small carrot, 4 pieces of celery, few slices of cucumber, 4 pea pods, and a few other things (i change some things so they dont get that everyday, and so they get variety)

that what i described there is for 2 boys.

i have 5 girls too who get double that plus a bit more :)

I change the veg around but on a lettuce day I give (per pig) 1 piece of romaine lettuce, half a stick of celery, half an inch of cucumber (round), a quarter of green pepper and a whole corn of the cob to share between 2 pigs. (They are fussy and won't eat carrot unless I grate it)

I feel this is enough for the boys as Sunshine gained 80g from last weeks weigh in to this. If your pig seems content with that then thats fine! :)

I also give Tesco mix, mght change to pellets but Cuzzy seems to llike the mix at the mo.

I also give loads of Herbage Hay which they love. I've read it's 80% Hay 15% Veg and 5% Mix or Pellets.

Thanks Louise
yup got plenty of hay and plenty dried food (although still waiting to see if they will eat the pellets ::) )

Think I maybe need to give a little bit more.
I've also been cautious with Bob since the cabbage/or maybe the intro of veggies was too much for his tummy.

I gave John Anderson an extra piece of celery this afternoon and it was gone in a shot.

isn't it 1 cup of veggies per piggie a day? I think i read that somewhere.
Mine get 3 different types of fruit or veg twice a day, and they have quite a bit. I do guess the amount though.

1 cup as in 1 US cup? or a mug? LOL
that probably sounds a daft question!

i once read a large handful will be enough which if piled in the palm probably would make the size of a cup? lol

lol but then how big is your hands? :D :D

My big handful would be different to my hubby's handful ROFL!

i don't know, but i would personally say a mug each guinea, a little cup isn't enough per day. i wouldn't worry too much, i feed mine quite a bit, but they will only eat as much as they want and leave the rest.

ok I see he has emptied his veggie bowl tonight so today he has had:

half a carrot
probably equiv of a whole stalk of celery
1 romaine lettuce leaf
inch of cucumber (halved ie down the middle of the cucumber)
sprigs of corriander and parsley
one stem of brocolli

Bob has had:
approx half a carrot
2 tiny bits of romaine lettuce
a few nibbles of cucumber
a few peices of curly kale
sprigs of corriander
dandelion leaf

Hard to judge with Bob since he is so little and I'm so scared I'm going to give him an upset tummy again.

Yeah I took it as a cup and measured the amount I gave (lettuce, green pepper, cucumber and celery) and that amounted to a cup size. :)

i dont measure mine i just give them a good feeding..mine get more than a handful i think ive just got used to how much eat so i just go by what i know with my lot :)
