Poor Yoshi has got to go and have a blood test tomorrow which involves him having a general anaesthetic for about 5 minutes - please cross everything for him, he's very over weight ( and no it's not from over feeding, he's gained weight rapidly even on a diet which is why he's having tests done ) and so there is obviously a higher risk for him.
I do hope he wakes up quickly and recovers okay, hopefully the bloods will throw something obvious and treatable up ( I suspect an under active thyroid ) .
The vet also wants to do a biopsy on a lump she's worried about at a later date but this would take 20 to 30 minutes and I'm not happy with him going under for such a long time while he's so tubby so I'm really hoping we can figure out what's going on with his worrying expansion. Moonpig's going in with him to keep him company ( he hates being apart from her ). I'm soooo worried, I have a complete mental melt down when it comes to G.As, always have. :(
So please cross everything for Yoshi tomorrow morning.
Thank you.

I imagine she's taking blood from the Vena Cava - Milo had this done last year and bounced back fine.

Hoping the same for Yoshi!

Thanks guys. I need to go to bed because we've got to get up fairly early to get to the vets on time but wonder if there's any point because I just know I'm going to be lying wide awake most of the night! mallethead

Hope everything goes ok for your little boy today x

Aw - be strong Yoshi x>> Soon be home and forgetting about your ordeal, sure mummy will buy you a nice treat to nom on for being such a brave boy :(|)
Sending hugs from us here :laluot_29:

Just got back from dropping them off, will phone to see how things have gone at lunchtime and then hopefully pick them up a bit later.

Really hope everything goes well for Yoshi, will be thinking of you both x

Finges very firmly crossed for Yoshi! What a worrying time for you!

I really hope all goes well. Poor little man. Let us know how he gets on.

Thanks for your positive vibes everyone, just phoned the vets and he's awake and eating so I can fetch them home this afternoon. :laluot_24:
Should get the blood test results on Monday.

Aw, hope the tests all come back good for you both :)p

Good news! I hope that the test results come back OK, too!

Thanks guys. Picked Moonpig and Yoshi up this afto, Yoshi was still a bit quiet and floppy ( could he be anymore like a teddbear!? ) but he's back to his unfloppy "don't pick me up I'm trying to SNOOZE!" wheeky self now. Vicki, the vet phoned this evening, the results are back ( wow, faster than the NHS but then it costs considerably more! ) he has indeed got an underactive thyroid so that's part of the mystery solved.
He also has a slightly high white blood cell count but it's unclear whether that's related to the lump or something else so the main thing is to try and get his thyroid and weight back to normal first before anything like a biopsy can be considered.
There isn't a specific thyroid med for piggles so we've got to try him on a dog/cat one in teeny weeny doses and monitor him very carefully ( obviously he can't keep having blood tests just to check his levels ). Finger's crossed we can help him get back to normality. Thanks so much for all of your support, you've kept me going today.

I really hope this is not too difficult to treat. Poor little thing. It is so unfair he is ill. I really wish him a speedy recovery.

Yay! He's back :))

He has my sympathy I have an underactive thyroid & have to eat like a sparrow rolleyes Hopefully he'll soon be feeling much better!

I have an over active one so between Yoshi and myself we've got both ends of the spectrum covered! mallethead
