I haven't been on the forum for the last few days so have missed this thread but really pleased that Yoshi is doing well after his blood tests, and i'm glad you've got some answers now about the weight gain!

Thanks, me too. I feel like we might actually be able to help him now we know the reason for it, I knew he wasn't fat because of eating too much. He eats less than the others and his weight gain was so rapid and alarming there had to be something else going on. Vicki's doing some research over the weekend and hopefully she'll have worked out a starting dose by tomorrow. I so badly want to help him get back to his old popcorning self.

I am glad that you have a good chance of getting Yoshi's weight and lethargy under control! Best of luck!

Thats good you have a diagnosis and hopefully Yoshis condition will be controlled with the meds. I too have an underactive throid so can sympathise. Get well soon lovely Yoshi....

Been away for a couple of days, so I missed this. Really pleased Yoshi pulled through his procedure and hope you and your vet can get him back to his slim(mer) self as soon as possible.

Vicki phoned this evening, she's managed to find ONE paper that deals with thyroxine doses for Guinea pigs thankfully so has worked out a dose. It will be a suspension fluid because the tablets would have had to be divided into tenths!:{
Anyway, I'll be fetching it tomorrow so hopefully Yoshi will be feeling the benefits fairly soon. She's still concerned about his throat lump and doesn't want to wait too long before getting a biopsy done so finger's crossed he'll respond well to the meds.

We weighed Yoshi last night and he's lost 125g, he also seems to be a bit more lively. Finger's crossed it's working...
