Hi all,

Sadly, I think I'm losing my Dumpling :(.

Not 100% sure what's wrong but I think we might have something dental going on just from her symptoms.

Over the last few weeks she's got quite picky on veg she will eat, honestly just thought she was being stubborn and now she's refused all veg today and isn't eating hay. I handed her a piece of broccoli (one of her faves, thought it would tempt her) and she tried to eat it then it just came out of her mouth. She was chewing a bit but mostly not. She also tried and failed to eat some spinach.

I'm also concerned as she has one watery eye. Which I'm worried may be tooth root related.

We have a vets appointment tomorrow and I've been supplementing her with some critical care. She's lost about 200g in the last 3 weeks (forgot to weigh last week or one before waaaah).

My poor squidge. She's my baby :(.

Dumpling is 6 now so I'll have to seriously consider what's in her best interests if the vet feels its dental related :(

I am keeping my fingers very firmly crossed!

Can you please book her in at the Cat&Rabbit Care Clinic in Northampton if it is the teeth? Simon Maddock is the most experienced dental vet in the country; he sees a lot of frail, older and very ill piggies from all over the country.

My Hywel was 6 years old and lived for another year nearly to his 7th birthday with a recurring dental abscess that my local vets were not able to deal with courtesy of Simon.

Hi Wiebke,

Thanks for for your quick reply as always! I'm keeping my fingers crossed too.

Simon will certainly be my first choice dental vet if needed, quite a drive from me but we'll go if needed to give Dumpling the best chance! So sad, she's like my little baby :( lol.

Just picked a handful of grass and jammed it into her willow ball like a tuft, the poor girl was picking individual strands out of it slowly and carefully to eat so I'm hoping she'll keep munching overnight. Also found her a dandelion which she loves normally. She's perked up a bit over the evening and was pretty active for her floor time which is good!

That's very reassuring to hear about your Hywel :). I appreciate that piggies don't last forever :( but I don't want her to be hungry / in pain / uncomfortable, well do all we can but got to keep realistic sadly.

Fingers crossed it's something altogether more simple, though it's not looking that way :(

Sorry your little one is doing poorly. :(
We've got our fingers and paws crossed for you over here too!

Fingers crossed. I can't relate. I've had my pigs for 6 weeks and they're young boars. All in all, I think we all trust you'll go what's right. Keep it realistic but hope some, too. Only time can tell. :)

Thank you all for your kind words. She's dying right now, in my arms and there's nothing I can do except hold her and be there :soz:.

I am so, so, sorry, come on Dumpling get better.
Thank you x

Sadly Dumpling fell asleep in my arms are 11.30am. We were sitting in the sunshine and the warm of the conservatory together for 3 hours having cuddles before she's passed away.

My heart is broken for my little old girl, my heart pig, but I'm so thankful that I could be with her right to the end. I can't face writing in the rainbow bridge right now, but thanks guys x

I am so sorry Dumpling didn't make it, my thoughts are with you.
Sleep Tight Dumpling popcorn to the rainbow bridge.
