Hello!
I'd just like a bit of advice about what may or may not be skin problems in my guinea pigs. I have one 5 year old boy who I recently noticed has brown streaks on the bald patches behind his ears. He's active, seems very happy, eats well and drinks well, doesn't scratch very much, and his bathroom habits are normal.
He's not been in contact with any other pigs (his cage mate died a while ago) and I've started cleaning the areas with salt water. At first, bits of brown seemed to come off, but that's now stopped. I've searched online and I thought it might be fungal, so I've used a tiny bit of Canesten on the areas. But I'm not sure.
I also have two baby boys (10 weeks old) who I brought home 3 days ago, who are brothers and have not been in contact with my 5 year old. One of them has a small bald patch on his head and both have light brown stripes in the bald patches behind their ears. Because it's been Easter weekend and the vet's not open, I've also cleaned those areas with salt water and applied a tiny bit of canesten. Should I continue this treatment?
I've checked them thoroughly and I'm 99% sure it's not mites in any of them.
Thanks!
