I've heard divided opinions as to whether or not the filtering process makes any difference, when it comes to preventing stones, but certainly plenty of people do filter their pigs' water and feel it's beneficial (myself included). Guinea Lynx and Ratewatchers both advise filtering water.

You may even find that your pigs prefer the taste of filtered water vs non-filtered water (mine definitely do!). So, if filtering encourages them to drink more, this will undoubtedly be a good thing, as a well flushed bladder is vital in the prevention of sludge/stones.
 
Tesla has no problems drinking water! The vet said I should look out for a reduction of water intake, which would mean he's getting better. He drinks about 300ml a day now.
