Problems getting piggy to eat after dental

Yes thank you. He’s doing great now thanks. You’re right about being busy- been to Nottingham university open day today with my daughter 😊
What is it with guinea pigs with dental problems and kids heading off to university!😊we must be in slightly parallell universes, took our son to Aberdeen last week where he's starting his studies..

Makes me so sad that vets in general don't seem to have this knowledge when, as it seems, "failed" dental procedures seem not too uncommon🙁
This is the reason we set up TEAS. We take permanent and temporary residents, to enable them to get treatment from Simon. So many guinea pigs arrive after failed treatments elsewhere. I have lost count of the number of guinea pigs who come, after they've been diagnosed with dislocated jaw. Not one has actually been dislocated and as soon as Simon has filed the teeth properly. they're eating. Most guinea pigs are eating before they even leave the practice. Simon is able to carry out the dental work without GA and it literally takes less than 10 mins to file the teeth.

Failed dental procedures are all too common, you take them along to your local vets, in good faith, thinking that you are paying for an expert to sort your piggies eating problems out and in my case (and probably lots of others)they come home far worse than they went in, often unable to even pick up food, never mind chew it!

My local vet was very pleasant but cut his incisors so short they didn’t even meet, it took a month of cc and hand feeding until he could even grasp food! At least he came through the GA! Luckily sorted by Simon

This is amazing work you are doing. I had no idea about this sad situation with guinea pigs often not getting proper treatment for their dental problems until it happened to one of ours. The fact that he carries out the procedure without GA must also help so much. It's shocking and very sad that this procedure isn't carried out with more success when it obviously can be done.

Exactly what happened to us😥Rosie was skinny but alert when she went in but worse when she came out and then deteriorated quickly
