Hi everyone! Hope you’re having a good day!

Thought I might document this little endeavour.

Pa and I are building a new cage for the pigs! Cage selection in Estonia is pretty bad, I am yet to see one actually big enough for two girls, and I’m having trouble finding one to order that’s both functional, reasonably priced, and to my taste:cool:

Please lay your eyes upon this horrible, ugly, confusing sketch we have made; the material (plywood) we have ordered just arrived today, tomorrow we will be cutting the necessary pieces and assembly shall begin!

Are those ramps to an upper section? the only thing I would try and do is leave enough clear space for zoomies (I’m unsure how old your piggies are). I’m sure they’ll love it though. Hope you’ll post in progress photos.

Yes! The second floor shouldn't be too high up (thick fleece on the bottom as well) and the cage itself will be quite wide. The ramps shouldn't take up too much space but if anything's amiss we can adjust easily. They are quite zoomy still, I'll take extra care of the spacing c:

It’s been a long while, I’ve been really busy, but the piggy villa is coming together and it’s looking AWESOME!

We had to make some adjustments - I wanted the front panel to be all clear plastic, but I fear it might not be stable enough due to its size. Instead, they’ll be getting windows and their own little piggy door c:

I still need to find little mini hinges and other goods for the door and ramps, I want the ramps to move up and down.

The second floor will receive a cornice border as well.

Can’t wait to see them living their best lives in it once it’s finished.

The residents have moved in! It was a massive change for the pigs, not only did we move cages, we also moved houses!

Lily was a bit skeptical at first.

But after thinking about whatever it is pigs think about, and accepting my peace offering (a raspberry), she settled in!

Rosie really wanted said peace offering, but decided to give Lily kisses instead.

Their reaction to hearing a lawn mower for the first time was to pull a fantastic little pose.

The pigs are happy!
I’ll definitely share full cage pics in the near future when I sew them a new fleece set that’s actually the correct size and I don’t have to feel embarrassed:doh:

Wow! 🤩 What a mansion, hope everypig is settling in.

No need to feel embarrassed by your fleece liners, none of ours ever match- nothing fits anymore, after various piggy home alterations. We just do jigsaw puzzle style & clashing fleece patterns!

Carrots were originally purple. Orange is a more recent invention’.

The piggies look very happy in their mansion.
You may have to take orders from all the forum piggies now 😁
They they look like Heritage Carrots, amazing colouration

Team purple carrot!:box:

I’ll have Rosie and Lily manage the incoming orders. Payment in bell peppers and pea flakes will be accepted.

So upset. I discovered MOLD in the cage! After a week?!

I have moved the pigs, but I am shunned. I used some unique waterproof plywood we shipped in for the cage, the bottom was lined with plenty of newspapers, paper bags and thick fleece + pee pads. I’d ordered waterproof cardboard for protecting the bottom, but it won’t be here for another week. I figured it’d hold, but already I have mold? After only a week of the pigs being in? The plywood I used was supposed to combat this type of issue.

I don’t really know what to do. I can use vinegar solution to clean the mold spots, but what then? This happened in just a week.

Can you line with a Lino offcut? Maybe better ventilation might help, it has been very humid and damp this summer everywhere though so it may settle down
Yes! I went and bought some. I will treat the cage with this bio vinegar I was conveniently given, clean the fleece, and hopefully move the pigs back in tomorrow night.

I cut some plywood blocks to help raise the cage from the ground, that'll offer better airflow for sure. Perhaps I will think of something I can lay underneath the linoleum as well for even more ventilation, a type of wire or something. We'll see.

But my gosh this is frustrating! Mold causes me severe breathing issues and lung pain, worried sick over my pigwigs.

That’s such a shame as it looks fabulous. Could you pain it, would that help?

So sorry that you’re having to deal with this issue.
You put in so much work and care to get everything right.
Hope you can get the mould cleared and without any problems for you either.
