Sadly we had to put our much loved parrot Oliver down today. He was 17 years old which isn't that old for a parrot at all. He'd been around since before I was born and when I was older I took over looking after him. He was such a beautiful boy with green feathers all over his body, red on his head and a little band of purple between his red head and his eyes. For weeks now he'd had the runs but apart from that he was his usual chirpy self. Only last night he was tucking into his grapes under the heat lamp we'd put up, it seemed to make him feel better being all cosy and warm.
My parents took him to the vets for blood tests whilst I was at school, the results showed that his kidneys were failing. The vets said they could try and give him more time but he'd probably be back at the vets within 24 hours. It was decided that the best thing to do would be to put him down, we didn't want him to suffer. 8...
So rest it peace Ollie, thank you for the years you gave us.
