Hi there!
i ran out of nuggets today so off i went to pets at home to get some more… and they literally had not a single bag of any brand of guinea pig nuggets in at all! the lady even checked the back and she said she didn’t have a clue when they were coming in. i didn’t have any time to go to any other shops. the lady there told me that in terms of composition and what’s in the nuggets, burgess’s excel nuggets for junior and dwarf rabbits with mint was the closest they had to my usual pets at home guinea pig ones. i doubted this but took them anyways as i had nothing else.

i’ve just ordered a bag of the usual pets at home guinea pig nuggets online, but i just wanted to ask wether it’s okay to give my two piggies the rabbit nuggets while i wait for the delivery on Saturday, or if it’s better for them to just go nuggetless. i dont want to upset their little belly’s.

any help would be appreciated! thank you ☺️

It's probably better for them to go nuggetless (many people choose not to feed pellets at all). I can't imagine rabbit pellets would be good as they have different dietary requirements. I'm not sure whether the PAH nuggets are known for being good or not, as we don't have one in Australia. More experienced members will be along shortly 😊

There's not enough vit c in them. Rabbit one has 50mg/kg. Guinea pig one has 800mg/kg. I cant say about the rest of the nutrients. Ingredients wise it's ok. Won't kill a pig but won't necessarily be beneficial either. Remember that pigs need only 1tbsp per pig per day.

thank you all! i had suspected that as i knew rabbits made their own vit c whereas piggies don’t. they shall have to go nuggetless till saturday unless i can find any in other pets at homes. i’ll make up the vit c with high vit c veggies instead ☺️

I've a feeling Rabbit nuggets contain some things which are good for rabbit health but can be positively harmful to guineas. I'm sure your piggies will be fine until you can get hold of the right ones

The truth is, that it really depends on pellet brand, sometimes the only difference is the amount of vitamin C. So this question cannot be answered correctly until we can see the ingredient and nutrition list :)

In addition to previous message, the most important thing is not to make sudden big changes on diet/food you use.
