Rusty Roo
It has been three weeks since our ray of sunshine crossed The Rainbow Bridge
our hearts are broken
and I've struggled to find the words but here is a little tribute to our amazing boy Rusty Rusty Roo
On 24th March 2025, Merrypigs asked us if we could foster Rusty, and on 27th March he arrived with us. Little did we know then just how incredibly special he would become to us.
We will be forever grateful to Merrypigs for trusting us with this beautiful boy and giving us the opportunity to become part of Rustyโs life. Thank you for believing that we could give him the love, care and happiness he deserved. Rusty immediately became family.
On 8th May 2026, we celebrated his 9th birthday. Who would have known that we would have the absolute privilege of seeing our beautiful boy celebrate not just one, but two birthdays with us? What an incredible gift those extra months were.
Rusty arrived with his buddy Rugrat, and we were immediately smitten. Every single day, Rusty would be there to say hello. He brought so much happiness into our lives, and Cookie, who lived alongside them, absolutely adored him too. They were always having a little chat together, happily enjoying their hay piles side by side.
I remember being advised by a wise forum member to take each day at a time with Rusty, and I did. Because, let's face it, we never truly know how long we have with these precious little souls.
After losing Toby at just 5 months old, having Rusty reach the amazing age of 9 taught me something I will never forget.
Don't wait for tomorrow. Don't take the ordinary days for granted.
Cherish today. Embrace every moment. Create a happy memory. Give them another cuddle. Sit beside them. Listen to their little noises. And most importantly, make sure they know they are loved.
Because when the time comes to say goodbye, it is those moments that stay with us.
And Rusty gave us so many moments to treasure.
Rusty, you were my sunshine.
Thank you for every hello.
Thank you all the wheek wheeks.
Thank you for every little chat.
Thank you for every happy moment.
Thank you for every little noise, every little expression, and every precious memory.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your incredible 9 years.
Thank you for choosing us.
Tyler and I feel so incredibly privileged that we got to have you in our lives, even though I wish with all my heart that we could have had more time.
You weren't just a foster. You became family.
My heart hurts so much without you. We miss you more than words can ever say, Rusty Roo.
But I know that you aren't truly alone. I know you're watching over those you've left behind, just as you always brought comfort and happiness while you were here.
And I know that somewhere over The Rainbow Bridge
, you are surrounded by endless fields filled with all of your favourite treats, with plenty of hay, sunshine and space to explore โ happily popcorning around with friends both old and new.
I hope you're having the most wonderful adventures, Rusty, and that you know just how deeply loved you are down here.
Because you will always be loved.
You will forever be our beautiful Rusty Roo, and you will always have the most special place in our hearts.
Thank you, Merrypigs, for trusting us with him. Thank you for giving us the chance to know such an extraordinary little soul. We will treasure the time we were given with Rusty for the rest of our lives.
Run free, beautiful boy.
Until we meet again.
Forever our Rusty Roo.

In our hearts forever and always Nicola, Tyler and the guinea boys
