Rusty Roo ๐ŸŒˆ
It has been three weeks since our ray of sunshine crossed The Rainbow Bridge ๐ŸŒˆ our hearts are broken ๐Ÿ’” and I've struggled to find the words but here is a little tribute to our amazing boy Rusty Rusty Roo ๐ŸŒˆ

On 24th March 2025, Merrypigs asked us if we could foster Rusty, and on 27th March he arrived with us. Little did we know then just how incredibly special he would become to us.

We will be forever grateful to Merrypigs for trusting us with this beautiful boy and giving us the opportunity to become part of Rustyโ€™s life. Thank you for believing that we could give him the love, care and happiness he deserved. Rusty immediately became family. โค๏ธ

On 8th May 2026, we celebrated his 9th birthday. Who would have known that we would have the absolute privilege of seeing our beautiful boy celebrate not just one, but two birthdays with us? What an incredible gift those extra months were.
Rusty arrived with his buddy Rugrat, and we were immediately smitten. Every single day, Rusty would be there to say hello. He brought so much happiness into our lives, and Cookie, who lived alongside them, absolutely adored him too. They were always having a little chat together, happily enjoying their hay piles side by side. โค๏ธ

I remember being advised by a wise forum member to take each day at a time with Rusty, and I did. Because, let's face it, we never truly know how long we have with these precious little souls.
After losing Toby at just 5 months old, having Rusty reach the amazing age of 9 taught me something I will never forget.

Don't wait for tomorrow. Don't take the ordinary days for granted.
Cherish today. Embrace every moment. Create a happy memory. Give them another cuddle. Sit beside them. Listen to their little noises. And most importantly, make sure they know they are loved.
Because when the time comes to say goodbye, it is those moments that stay with us.
And Rusty gave us so many moments to treasure.
Rusty, you were my sunshine. โ˜€๏ธ
Thank you for every hello.
Thank you all the wheek wheeks.
Thank you for every little chat.
Thank you for every happy moment.
Thank you for every little noise, every little expression, and every precious memory.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your incredible 9 years.
Thank you for choosing us.

Tyler and I feel so incredibly privileged that we got to have you in our lives, even though I wish with all my heart that we could have had more time.
You weren't just a foster. You became family. โค๏ธ
My heart hurts so much without you. We miss you more than words can ever say, Rusty Roo.
But I know that you aren't truly alone. I know you're watching over those you've left behind, just as you always brought comfort and happiness while you were here.
And I know that somewhere over The Rainbow Bridge ๐ŸŒˆ, you are surrounded by endless fields filled with all of your favourite treats, with plenty of hay, sunshine and space to explore โ€” happily popcorning around with friends both old and new. โค๏ธ
I hope you're having the most wonderful adventures, Rusty, and that you know just how deeply loved you are down here.
Because you will always be loved.
You will forever be our beautiful Rusty Roo, and you will always have the most special place in our hearts.
Thank you, Merrypigs, for trusting us with him. Thank you for giving us the chance to know such an extraordinary little soul. We will treasure the time we were given with Rusty for the rest of our lives.
Run free, beautiful boy. ๐ŸŒˆ
Until we meet again. โค๏ธ
Forever our Rusty Roo. โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’”

It has taken me a while to type this as I couldn't see through the tears after reading your beautiful tribute. The pain of loss is unbearable. Your love for him shines through every word and he would have had every day with you filled with love and happiness and the memories he leaves will always be in your heart. I know you will treasure them.
Rest peacefully beautiful boy in the meadows at the bridge until you meet again ๐ŸŒˆ

@munchmonster Thank you for your kind and understanding words.
I do I treasure every moment but I do wish he was still here I love my other boys of course but Rusty was always first out to greet me and I quite often just pop into their room and he was pottering around whilst the others were snoozing and he loved a love and a snuggle ๐Ÿค— I really miss our snuggles ๐Ÿค—

BIG HUGS

I am so sorry that Rusty has made his journey to the Rainbow Bridge.

You have given him a new zest of life with your loving home and with making him feel special, happy and feeling that he truly belonged. There is a magic with older piggies; because they know who they are and what life is about, they can teach you so much about the things in life that really count. I had my Bryn Oscar and my Calli, you have your Rusty.

Without what my oldies have taught me I would be dealing with my stage 4 cancer diagnosis n a very different way, so my own oldie adoptees have been a true blessing to me. I got some very funny looks from my cancer consultants when I told them that I have taken a leaf out of my piggies' book with my approach on to how to deal with my remaining life time. However, they are now starting to think that I am actually making sense by trying to make every day (or as many days as possible) count in a little but meaningful and good way. Because it really works. ;)

I am glad that my advice has allowed you to turn the years - and not months - with Rusty into a blessed, magical time, too. He will stay with you in your heart forever and will hopefully be able to be your guide whenever your own time comes. And you will always be able to remember him with a smile and a rush of fondness and happiness hormones.

Sadly, the end of such a blessed time comes for us with an even harder than usual bump... yet without it we would be so much the poorer!

Thank you @Wiekbe for your kind words, you gave me such good advice when we had Rusty to live in the moment and as always you were right it felt like he had been part of our family for so much longer, we certainly did pack a lifetime of love into his time with us ๐Ÿ’–
Amazing as you say what these little guys can teach us and that even when you were diagnosed with cancer their outlook on life helped ๐Ÿ™

๐ŸŒˆoh my gosh heโ€™s so sweet! My two boys send him big hugs and wheeks <3.
โœจIโ€™m sure he had a lovely year living with you guysโœจ
