Okay, I'd love it if someone could clear this up for me. If I am right, readigrass (which is just dried out grass), should be fine to feed regularly for piggies? The calcium in it is higher than some hays, but if piggies can be housed on grass permanently they will not be affected by it; so I should be able to feed readigrass daily?

I've read so many conflicting things on this trying to figure out if it is worth me getting a massive sack full!

I read this from another thread here on it: http://forums.rabbitrehome.org.uk/archive/index.php/t-285405.html

So, can I feed this daily? It would not replace hay, but as I'm feeding 20 mouths, it would be nice if they can have access to a bowl of this all the time on top of the hay they already get as something different. 'Posh' hays are not economically viable for me, but a sack of readigrass would be perfect!

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help clear this up for me! :)

I've found if I feed it every day they get soft poos as it is rich so every other day at a maximum for my lot.

Hmm, thank you! I had one of those small bags not too long ago and one of my boys got it every day because he loved it! No soft poops from him, but I've not tried it that often with the rest of my piggies!

Oh I should stop reading into this and just get some to try - I'm so confused. According to people on the rabbit forum, it may only affect rabbits because of the protein level and calcium in sensitive buns - but some members there feed daily to all their small furries, piggies included, and have absolutely no problems. Reading threads here, piggies need 17% protein (which is what readigrass is?) and the calcium levels aren't too high either from what I've read (0.8%).

I think I'm reading too much into this. Should I just get some, build it up so they are on it daily and if some piggies don't agree then every other day and just see how they go on it? Obviously each piggy is different in terms of what they can stomach effectively so I can just monitor it and see how they go on it...

So confused.

I found it caused all my pigs to get calcium stains - so they get it as a rare treat as the Calcium level is very high.

I too am confused.

Readigrass is freeze dried grass so how can the calcium level in it be any higher than grass before it is freeze dried? :{

because it's dried. Drying things changes their make up. Like the difference between grapes and raisins :)

I've found readigrass to be super duper sweet, so I wouldn't feed it every day personally
