I have a young hairless female, spayed guinea pig and found red/orange urine in her cage this morning. As you can see in the picture it is a very bright color. She has had a few carrots this week, could those be causing the urine to turn this color? It doesn't seem like blood to me but I'm just not sure. My exotics specialist is out of the country so I'm a little panicked on what to do. I may have an option to take her to an emergency clinic. Have any of you experienced this? Should I monitor or should I take her in?

It looks too dark to be from food so personally I would monitor her and if she is otherwise alright then take her in when the vets are open but if she loses weight or appetite or seems in pain then get her in as an emergency. When is your exotics vet due back? It might be worth considering pain relief and an antibiotic while you wait for them to return in case it's an infection
