Rehome or adoption advice

Glad things are settling.
Bonding can be stressful for the humans as piggies can be soooooooo dramatic
I recommend coffee & chocolate to help ( you, not the piggies )

Glad it’s calmer now
I think because my previous bonding's had gone smoothly, I found this one really stressful and was just worried I had messed up the bonding for them and it would never would happen.

Removing the hideys and forcing them to get to know each other in the neutral space was definitely the turning point, so thank you very much @Piggies&buns for pointing this out!

Things have definitely calmed down a lot now, there is still the occasional chasing and mounting, mainly from Ralph to Rita, but she just squeaks loudly, he leaves her alone and then she runs after him 😂 Both eating/drinking as normal so no signs of stress.

I've checked in a couple of times to them both being in the same hidey together, and for the most part they are just calm together so hoping they just keep getting closer from here.

Both Rita and Ralph seem very well bonded now, grooming each other, sharing the same hidey, eating side by side etc.

However, I feel like I am having no luck with them at the moment. I noticed yesterday evening that Rita's face looked like it was slightly fluffed up on one side, and suspected this is likely an abscess. Took Rita to the vet this morning (With Ralph as company) and they confirmed there was a small scab on her a cheek and this was an abscess.

I feel responsible for messing up the bonding process by putting hidey's in the neutral space, which I imagine led to Ralph giving a cut to Rita, although I did watch them the whole time, and saw them go at each other once, however this was a nip from Rita to Ralph, and I thought it was more of a warning than actually a bite.

I also checked them both for cuts before putting them to bed that first night. It's just frustrating as I have pet anti-septic and could of possibly treated this before it became infected.

Vet confirmed there was no liquid in there at the moment, and has prescribed meloxaid and co-trimoxazole to try clear up the infection, with a check up in a weeks time, however I know from looking online that these need surgical intervention most of the time.

Just hoping Rita gets a bit of luck, and the medication can clear this up without her having to go through that.

Hope it heals quickly.
When Jemimah and Priscilla were bonding we had a few nips and scratches as well as fur pulling.
Everything healed and they became best friends.
Piggies are so dramatic
