As well as running the Piggy Dating Service for lonely pigs out there I also spend a fair bit of time trying to pair up the single boys while they are in rescue in case their perfect partner is in the cage just across the room.

Today baby Gareth had to leave his mum as he's now 21 days old and has reached weaning weight (250g). He's moved in with a year old teddy male who has proved too aggressive and dominant to bond with other adult males or sub-adults. A baby is his last chance before being considered for the snip.

There was lots of humping from the teddy and he's certainly left his calling card on the baby in the form of a big glob of boar glue that I've had to cut out, but now that he's done that he's much more relaxed and calm with him.

The other date that's going on is between two of the more high maintenance boars - Both stunningly beautiful but need a lot of grooming so I thought if I could bond them then I would only need to find one home that can cope with their level of grooming rather than two. Well that was the plan anyway...

Initially all was ok, no aggression just interest in each other, more interest in the veggies, yay all good I thought. Then the look came in the texel's eye and that was it - WAR! A very swift intervention and they are back in their own cages once more - a second later and there would have been two injured pigs.

Here's the only pic of these two together that will ever be seen of them. Honestly! Why can't they just be nice!

So not every date is successful, even when you're experienced LOL.

How cute is the baby in that first pic, i thought it was an ornament at first :)) You do a wonderful job Suzy xx

Wow those last two boys have amazing hair. How lovely Gareth has found a friend.

Sorry to hear that one of the pairings didn't work out - there will be happy partners out there for both those piggies!
But yay on the potential pairing of baby Gareth, I hope everything goes well with this one! I will be watching out for good news :))

Oh dear MR Grumpy Texel is just not loving the friendship thing is he!

Gareth is the most adorable minipig and will be a fab mate for Mr Teddy. A lucky home will be waiting for them!

Aww poor little Gareth, boars and their bits ey rolleyes

Glad you were able to split the naughty boys before any injuries occurred, how beautiful is that Black long haired piggie?! x)

You do such a wonderful job Suzy, just wish I was closer so I could lend a hand! x

Fingers crossed that Gareth can get uncle pig to behave!

Pity about your two stunners - and good that you caught them in time; it's all down to your experience!

Gareth almost looks photoshopped into that pic! :)) So glad he's got a little buddy now! Hope the other boys can find friends, they are both beautiful!

Yup - boars are fun - have spent some of the afternoon cutting boar glue and pullling sperm rods out of Parkin's privates - v pleasant! He's obviously still a bit upset/dominant over Cyclops' arrival! Then sons 1&2 get home and start having a rolling contest on the floor. Boys!

Texel boy really has a look about him that says...leave me alone! Does he have a name yet?

Gareth is so cute!

See men are SO illogical!

Good news that the teddy and littly are getting on well though :)

Poor ickle Gareth ..... UGH......glad you got rid of the boar glue :)>>>
He's sooooooooooo tiny beside his new buddy x) maybe Teddy heard your comment about the 'snip' :o

Well you tried Suzy HUGS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Come on you two, be nice and help your wonderful foster mummy to find you buddies xoxoxoxo

I think the pignapping suit might have to come out for mister handsome...sheltie? He's GORGE. x)

Better luck next time lads - hopefully you'll find the perfect 'bro' for you soon!

Yes the little black piggy is a sheltie, and this pic was taken after a haircut, he has the silkiest, densest coat I have seen in a long time. He's a little sweetheart, only about 8 months old, arrived at the here as part of the '285 rescue'.

Little baby Gareth is settling very nicely with his new 'uncle' Geraint. A few quick pics while they were waiting patiently for their breakfast LOL - a lot of squeaks telling me I'm a rotten slave and to put he camera down and pick up the feed bowl!

Great to see Gareth and Geraint looking so relaxed together! They make a gorgeous pair!

baby gareth is so cute
maybe thats the only hope i have with my single boar keith hes a very dominant pig thats why he was seperated from his cage mate as he would attack him he doesnt like any of the other boars we have
so maybe a young baby is what he needs

Sarah - you could try the Crawley based rescues, Palace Piggies deal with the mums and babies, Crawley GPR also boar date so some good options for you there.

The fabby sheltie is having another date today, this time with the fox tan swiss male. They are around the same age (8 months) and have been next door neighbours since they arrived. There is much squeaking, rumblestrutting and stinky boar smell coming from the bonding pen but no aggression yet.

Ah, the swiss has just found out just what fun he can have with the teddy in there, and again - ohh what a rude pig! Sheltie boy is just munching quite happily on the hay LOL.

Fingers crossed for these two! (The pigs, not the pig and the bear :)))
