I'm posting this on behalf of my mum O0 : (hope ive posted this in the right place too)
We are going to be moving sometime next year from North Suffolk to somewhere around the Norwich area and after reading alot of posts about the amount of pigs that need to go into rescues around norfolk and suffolk my mum has started having thoughts on perhaps starting a small rescue to help some of the homeless pigs. She asked me to ask for some advice before we seriously start thinking about it. It wouldn't be until sometime next year as we still need to find a house where we have room for the pigs and we will need to sell our house too. She doesn't work (my dad does though), she home educates me (13) and my 3 younger sisters, who could be going back to school depending on the area etc, so she does have spare time. She used to breed guinea pigs before she had us and when we were younger, but we always kept the every single pig we had, and when they did have to go to a new home they all went to one person, and we made sure they went to the right home. She understands the situation around here now and would love to help.
I care for all 13 of the pigs we have now (obviously I have help with money, vets etc). I clean them, clip nails (whilst supervised and with help from my older sister, 19, who is also experienced), health check them, groom them, feed them, when they're ill i'm always the one up with them most hours of the night caring for him/her. I'm quite experienced with piggies so I hopefully would be able to help my mum out with cleaning hutches, feeding and other little things like that. Then of course my mum would deal with the more major things like health, vets, money, travelling etc. Anyway, this is just an idea but any advice is welcome.
