After nearly 3 weeks of TLC, hubby and I had to make the decision to euthanise our white bundle of fluff, Graham Groos. He was a much loved family pet and will be missed greatly.

The vet at Highcroft was wonderful, Jemma. She explained that Graham having food trapped in his mouth, and exploding diarhea was rare and she would need to conduct a CT scan and take blood and urine samples to find out what is causing him to be so unwell. These tests were costly and Jemma could not guarantee that, given how poorly he is (he has gone further down hill over the weekend) that he would survive the GA, and if he did, she couldn't promise that she would be able to cure him of whatever his disease/problem is.

This meant that the kindest thing to do was say goodbye to Graham.

He will be missed greatly. The children will be devastated when we tell them after school today.

RIP little Graham 😢😢😢

I am so so sorry. I feel you did the right thing for Graham he was a very poorly boy. Jemma is a wonderful piggy vet you will have had the best advice. Sending you hugs at this difficult time.
RIP Graham.

You did everything you could to help little Graham don't blame yourself that you couldn't save him. The last act of love you can give any pet is to PTS. The Rainbow Bridge has had another gorgeous piggy added to its numbers today. RIP Graham.

It was a kind and loving thing you did, after trying as hard as you could. Be kind to yourselves. Popcorn free, Graham.

I am so sorry, sometimes no matter what we try we can't save them and the kindest thing to do is help them on their way, it is a choice we always make with the love for them at the forefront of our minds.

Massive hugs

Sleep well little one

RIP Graham

RIP Graham, absolutely heartbroken for you. I was so gunning for Graham to overcome this but you did what was best for him, a wonderful gesture of love.

I am so so sorry to hear this. You did everything you could and did the hardest, but kindest thing. Sending massive hugs and support to you all. Popcorn free Graham xx

Thank you everyone for your kind words and for your invaluable advice over the last few weeks.

It is a very sad day for us.

I’m so sorry for your loss, my little Sven had food in his mouth before he passed away, I think it is a sign that they are near the end, they just don’t have the strength to even swallow or chew and we all know that is a guinea pigs favorite thing to do.

So sorry for the loss of your beloved piggy. Sending big hugs.
RIP little fella. 🐾💔

Oh no poor Graham, so sorry for your loss- but you had so many tests and saw different vets and did everything you could for him, probably the kindest thing was to stop him suffering any more x

I'm so sorry for your loss. What others have said about it being the last act of love we can show our piggies is the truth, but it's still hard to deal with when you're going through it. I lost my girl Maisie on Friday, so still feels raw for me too. Take your time and know you did your best for Graham.

Thank you all for your lovely messages.

The house feels very quiet without him.

The children sobbed, as we expected. We are going to print off our photos of him and put into an album (my 7 year olds idea).

Life is cruel sometimes. I know that in nature, piggies are lovely creatures, but little Graham was a very special boy, he made us smile every day ❤❤❤

So sorry for your loss and the heartbreaking decision you had to make. I followed your story and so wanted Graham to pull through.
Sending you hugs.
Sleep tight little Graham.xx
