I was looking through my old photo album today and found a picture of my old guinea pig, Itchy.

He was such a loved and spoilt guinea pig. He lived around the home and would jump into the 'cage' pictured to poo and then he'd walk around the home or squeak at our feet if he wanted to sit in our laps.

He lived to a lovely old age of 7 and he would have lived longer but sadly for christmas my mum was given a plant that Itchy managed to knock down and eat.

He is the reason I wanted guinea pigs when I was older. So a huge thank you to Itchy for being such a wonderful pet.

May you RIP. x)

I was only young when we got Itchy and he died when I was around 12 or so.

If anyone can tell from the picture what breed he is, I was curious after finding there are many. He had long hair on his bum that came out quite far but the rest of him was short. I think he has a bit of himalayan? In him. He had red eyes and from the picture you can see he has a sort of fringe. :)

awww rip itchy :( he looks like he's definately crossed with a himilayan to me. he looks beautiful x>>

Thank you both! He was my first ever guinea pig. We were told he was a hamster by my brother when he saw him. :))
He definitely wasn't a hamster when we set eyes on him.

What wonderful memories! I have carried on from my childhood piggies, too.

Itchy was a himalayan.

Aw, what a beauty - definitely got a bit of my fave piggies, the Himi there x)
Photo's are such fantastic things to look back on every now and again, I used to spend hours going through our old pics of happy times and sometimes have a good cry over pets (and people) that have left us 8...
Itchy is still watching over you x)

Thank you everyone. ^_^

I think Itchy must be why I secretly adore himalayans. :)) I saw two at a petshop and I was so tempted to buy one but I held back because its a pet shop and I didn't want to give them money.

They're beautiful aren't they, I'm looking out for one or two sows but they are like gold dust in rescues :(
One day I'll have my girl x)

Aw good luck. I hope you find one. They pet shop had a few. One was in the boys bit and two were in the girls.

It's a shame it wasn't a rescue or I'd have gotten one for you and arranged for you to take her.

What a beautiful piggie Itchy was. You must have some wonderful memories of him. Every pet you have is special, they touch our hearts in so many ways.

Thank you. I have some wonderful memories of him. He'll never be forgotten.

Thank you.

He had a fantastic character! He loved being a free roam piggie. He trained himself not to poo in the house but in his box too! Such a smart little boy.

He loved riding on my barbie truck even though it was pink. He'd hop into it and wait for us to push him around. :))

What a lovely tribute to a stunning little man x)
RIP Itchy so loved and still so fondly remembered, what a character you were, you've certainly left your paw mark on your mummy's heart, gone but NEVER forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xoxoxoxo

awwwww i loved the story about him hopping into your Barbie car x)

When I got my first guinea pig I went "It's a hamster!" and my mum was like "Eh no, its a guinea pig".

It's a shame people don't realise how wonderful they are especially when you hear stories such as yours about Itchy :) The best thing about it is you still have all those memories to think about and look back on. Itchy sounds like he was a great piggy :)

We'd have been there like a shot hee hee ;) :(|)

What a treasure. It shows how careful you've got to be with plants, you're mum must have felt awful about it.
I'm amazed that he didn't even wee outside his toilet area!rolleyes:(

Thank you. Hehe, I was actually his auntie. He was my brothers piggie. :))

He loved his barbie car. I wish I had another one for my boys to play in. ...If they like it that is. :))

Haha yeah. My brother actually knew it was a guinea pig he admitted, he just didn't want to tell mum as he knew it would be a no. He lated admitted it. :))

He was a fantastic piggie. My current four boys are lucky he rubbed off on my heart so much and made me realise how fantastic guinea pigs are. x)

Well we had moved the plant out of reach but he somehow managed to knock it down and eat it. The person who bought my mum it felt awful too.

Yeah he taught himself everything! A fantastic little boy!

What a beautiful beastie he was.

Redemption was a "hamster" before he was a guinea pig, too.
